Dave's Reports

Bloggers, I am in receipt of a request to not cut and paste the entirety of Dave's columns from New Hampshire. I am allowed to post th elinks which I will continue to do. I did not know this was copywritten material and will be sending my apologies to Judi Smith. Jere is her request.

lilyslore:

I don't know how else to contact you about this since you're not accepting emails. I'm Dave's assistant. It's flattering that you like Dave's work enough to cut and paste it into your blog, but it's copyrighted work and being sold by TMS. Will you please delete the columns from your blog and use links instead? Here are the links:

Time To Lighten Up

"It was a year that strode boldly into the stall of human events and took a wide stance astride the porcelain bowl of history.

It was year in which roughly 17,000 leading presidential contenders, plus of course Dennis Kucinich, held roughly 63,000 debates, during which they spewed out roughly 153 trillion words; and yet the only truly memorable phrase emitted in any political context was  `Don't tase me, Bro!' "

With the end of the year upon us and none too soon, here is a link to Dave Barry's Year In Review. For fans of Dave's you will enjoy this unabridged version. The T-U, when it does print Dave's work, mercilessly scissors it into an unrecognizable daisy chain so enjoy the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

The Hunt

Puzzle lovers, and I think you know who you are, I would like to offer for your enjoyment, a site to visit. Almost every year, Dave Barry and the Miami Herald put on an event unlike any other in the nation. It is a huge out door funfest of puzzles of a mind bending nature. I am cut and pasting the blog entry from Dave Barry's blog which will show you pictures, and explain puzzle by puzzle how it all worked. I am also pasting the site that has just the puzzles and solutions. I have long wanted to bring this experience to Jacksonville but everyone I approached from radio stations to the Times-Union just refused to consider it stating that the citizenry of Northeast Florida just is not smart enough to do it. I constantly disagree so maybe some interest can be drummed up here in ClayCounty. I hope to get more of a response than I did in suggesting a Book Reading Club.
