FL Hometown DemocracyLAST CALL TO SUPPORT FLORIDA HOMETOWN DEMOCRACY PETITION DRIVE
If you have not yet signed a petition, please do so at www.Floridahometowndemocracy.com. You only have a few more days to get in to FHTD. This petition is needed to get it on the ballot. The document proposes to amend the Florida Constitution by requiring a REFERENDA to amend a local Government Comprehensive and Land Use Plan. It transfers the power to amend from elected officials to the voters. According to Lesley G. Blackner, Esq., and Ross S. Burnaman, Esq., co-founders of FHTD, both the Florida Supreme and US Supreme Courts have ruled that voters may have the final say on proposed land use changes within their communities. Its up to the voters to seize the opportunity given to them by these court decisons. Related: read more | alabayea's blog | 3 comments | Tags: Comprehensive Plans | FL Hometown Democracy
THE HON JOHN THRASHER LETTER
Bingo - I now have a copy of the above letter dated September 6, 2007! The letter was indeed paid for by Save our Constitution, Inc., (PC) and is so stated by the disclaimer on bottom of letter. It' s three pages plus the petition revocation form already filled in & ready for a signature. The letterhead says "THE HONORABLE JOHN THRASHER" and underneath in smaller letters "Former Speaker of The Florida House of Representatives". I wish all of you could see and read it. If there is a way to scan/post it here, advise so I can do it. One sentence on page three reads "Unless you want higher property taxes, higher utility bills and Florida scenic beauty destroyed by Big Developers, you certainly want to revoke your signature from their petition".
