County CommissionerNo Code Enforcement
As I was reading the MyClaySun on Sat. I came across an article that I’m sure most of our county residents will be happy to know about. Our County Commissioners voted to stop the county code enforcement officers from writing any code violations they see (unless safety) except for ones that they are directly called on. In other words when they go into a neighborhood to check on a code violation at an address that they were called to, if they happen to see one to ten other violations in the same neighborhood or on the trip to that neighborhood they are not allowed to do anything unless they are safety related. I know a lot of you on this blog complain about wasted taxpayer money, not letting county employees do their job, would this fall into that category? Road Impact Fees
Pay attention people. They are about to play slick willy with us again. I read in the My Clay Sun today that the Commission want to impose an IMPACT FEE on us to finance road improvements. My blood pressure went up so high I thought I was going to by the farm. Is this a legal way to put another tax on us? Years ago we voted for a 1/2 cent sales tas on gas to pay for road improvements. What did they do with the money? Instead of using it for the roads they put it in the general fund. Ok now that they need money for the roads they need to put the money back into the road fund. This is outragious. Any commissioner that votes for this will not get my vote next time.
Governor's Commission appointment sound decision
The appointment of attorney Rob Bradley to the District 1 county commission seat was a sound decision by Governor Crist. Bradley applied the first time when former Gov. Bush appointed John Thrasher to the seat. He has maintained his interest in the vacancy from the beginning and has shown he wants to serve his district and the county for the duration of the seat or until a decision is reached in the case of Christy Fiztgerald. Rob and his wife, Jennifer, have three children they are raising in Clay County. I know Rob to be a lifelong, conservative Republican. With others in the county, Bradley helped start the Victim's Crime Unit. He is currently chairman of the Barco-Newton YMCA and works pro-bono for the Clay County Council on Aging. He served on the Clay County Charter Review Commission where he took a leadership role in examining and discussing the merits of the charter amendments passed in November. One Victory
Yea, one victory for former county commission Christy Fitzgerald. The judge ruled today granting a change of venue to St. Johns County. The judge also expressed concern over the SAO/CCSO loosing documents (2 documents from 2 different files). Documents that are very important in this case. I bet if the documents HELPED the State's case, then they would not have been LOST??????? I am looking forward to writing more blogs when Ms. Fitzgerald is acquitted and is reinstated and provided back pay. Then all of these bloggers who are encouraging people to submit names for consideration for her seat can rest. It is a great day!!!!!!!! |
