Vouchers

On 07.07.08, JD "Dan" Weisenburger (JDW08) posted a blog titled, "Religious Freedom" about some items coming up on the Fl. ballot this November.  One of the items was about the end around tactic that former Gov. Jeb Bush is behind in overturning a Fl. Supreme Court decision concerning school vouchers.  Basically, Bush wants to amend the Constitution so that your taxes will pay for vouchers.  History has shown three things.  Vouchers have gone to predominently Christian schools, they violate the principles of the First Amendment of the Constitution & have done nothing to fix the original problem, namely, failing public schools.

It is no secret that former Governor Jeb, Bush & his brother, “W” have little regard for the laws, the Constitution or the Florida Supreme Court, at least when it comes to faith based initiatives & school vouchers.  After the Florida Supreme Court stated that the case concerning vouchers was unconstitutional, Jeb Bush has come out & said that he will do whatever he can to change that portion of the Florida Constitution.  Since he left office, he has worked closely, behind the scenes, with his cronies in the legislature towards that end.
