"Exercising my second amendment rights" blog by Winn

Hello, all-

Sorry for the confusion over Winn's blog (which is now live), but allow me to explain what happened.

Our newly added "report abuse" button to the blogs and comments is what pulled Winn's blog, not a member of MCS.com. Like I mentioned in an earlier blog, the "report abuse" button was designed to be another set of eyes for content that might violate our terms of service. This weekend, enough people clicked the "report abuse" button on Winn's blog that the system said (use your best robot voice for this) "Oh no, a lot people don't like this blog, I had better unpublish it"

Best of the blogs

Good morning, all-

We're putting together a special section in the printed edition of the Sun highlighting the amazing stuff you guys have contributed to this site and I have one question:

What are the most significant/meaningful blogs we've seen?

The Christy Fitzegerald blog by opflsw has been the most popular, for sure, but I want to make sure I haven't forgotten any of the blogs you guys have liked the most.

So far I have

- Winn's blog about the Don Imus incident

- Luvlife's blog about problems with her co-worker

- Key2Life's questioning of the proposed card room in the OP Kennel Club

What's going on with the blogs?

Afternoon Superstars-

We've got a few behind-the-scenes changes going on here at the site, and I realized that the changes may seem more like technical difficulties than regular changes.

What's happening with the blogs- It used to be that the most recent blogs were listed first, and as you guys submitted new stuff, blogs gradually got pushed off the front page. That's not a bad system, but it ended up burying a lot of good stuff, topics that had gotten a lot of response.

Now, the blogs that are listed (both the main three on the top and the seven in the list next to it) are chosen by us. We like the idea of keeping the most talked-about blogs on the front page.

You want me to write a what?

As if remembering to answer the phone at the office by saying My Clay Sun rather than Clay County Line was not enough of a challenge, our very enthusiastic online content guy wants me to write something called a blog.
Please understand, when I learned the newspaper biz 100 years ago, the word blog was used by toddlers trying and failing to pronounce block or brick or bug, if it was used at all.
But now blogs are everywhere, a vehicle for anyone who has a thought and a computer to share it with anyone who has a willingness to listen and a computer. Jonathan, our very enthusiastic online content guy, says we must get in on the action or get left in the cyber dust.
