Who am I?
As for most people, there are a lot of different answers to that question. For the purposes of My Clay Sun, I am a sports writer and photographer. And while that's certainly not nothing, it's not everything, either.
A literature professor once told me his theory that at any given time we embody a thousand different "selves." I thought this observation quite astute, since it helped explain a lot of the confusion that goes on in here.
Most people tend to define themselves by their past and present, and for retired Supreme Court justices and ex-professional football players, that's a pretty good deal -- though it's also kind of sad to know that what defines you the most is in the past.
Fortunately for me, I have no such great claims to the past. Therefore, I will define myself as I think a lot of people would like to define themselves: by their dreams of the future.
I used to want to write the great American novel. Now, I think I'd be happy just to read one, and then write a novel that would help pay a few bills.
I'd like to explore human consciousness -- mine, to be specific, since it's the only one I can really be certain exists -- and discover new ways of seeing and thinking that will keep me interested in my life and the world for however many years I might be allowed to wander this Earth.
I hope that somehow this will help illuminate my life, but more importantly, I hope it can somehow help to illuminate the lives of others as well.
Beyond that, a nice bottle of red every now and then, a good steak and potato, and maybe an occasional rousing set of doubles with a few precisely placed passing shots down the line would be nice. Ah, there it is: I'm a tennis-playing glutton.

Me? What can you say about yourself without feeling very self-absorbed? Well, let's start with my job. I am one of the Page Designers for your newspaper, My Clay Sun. I love my job and hope I am doing your community a service.
I love to watch movies, listen to music and play golf. I drive all around Duval and the surrounding counties [especially Clay] to find those remote green-meadows to hit the ball around.

I graduated college in 1973. I've been married since 1971 to the same woman. I have a son who has become successful in the automotive industry. His wife is becoming successful in the insurance industry. And they have blessed me with a wonderful grandson in 2005.
I continue my career in sales, but have also become a substitute teacher in Clay County, mainly teaching at Middleburg High School.
Interests: + I've been in sales all of my adult life and became interested in photography. I'm not a serious photographer+ but I enjoy shooting. A good photographer knows how to frame his shots + and I just get lucky from time to time. I enjoy my family + especially the grandson with whom I've been blessed. + + I love to play golf + however I don't play as much as I once did. + + Up until a couple of years ago I umpired baseball mainly for Little League + Inc. and for those athleltic associations affiliated with LL + Inc. + + My wife and I began a printing business this year. We print promotional items such as pens + calenders + stemware + etc. + as well as screenprinting and embroidery on anything from t-shirts to caps to business shirts to outerwear garments. PaulBowker
I'm a native Bostonian and proud member of Red Sox Nation who happens to love Florida. Don't ask me about snow, DO ask me about my golf game, the beaches, the No. 5 dog at Orange Park and how to coach a kids' soccer team.
Yankees? Don't even bother.
I love football, and was deputy sports editor in charge of the Jaguars coverage at the Times-Union during the team's expansion year. And why have the Jags not won a Super Bowl yet?
I'm a big follower of college basketball, and have covered it in the media for more than 10 years, including many a Duke-UNC game.
I love the pancakes at IHOP, but can't stand early mornings. I love the ocean, but I'm a lousy swimmer. I love golfing, but can't hit a decent tee shot.
Go figure.
I love coaching soccer, and I'm good at it (championship in my first season, thank you, girls).
I love writing (and editing), so get ready...
Jax, I'm back!
