Why take a garbage can?

I was stunned yesterday, when I arrived home in the evening to find someone had stolen — MY GARBAGE CAN!
I guess it just shows thieves will take just about anything. It wasn't my household garbage can; it was a smaller one I use for yard waste. Not THAT big a deal, but I still thought it so ODD that this item would be considered worth the trouble of picking up and walking down the street or getting out of one's car to haul it away.
I can't help but wonder why whoever didn't take the little basketball set on one neighbor's driveway. Or the lawn mower in my other neighbor's front yard.
Just plain strange.

Deborah,

I should introduce you to Uncle Rich's Theorem of Life.  It has many applications, this being one.  Stated:  There never has been, is not now, nor will there probably ever be a shortage of extremely stupid people on the face of this planet.  So shall it be written.  So shall it be done.  Thus endeth the lesson for today. Go and be confused no more.

Just another tip from Uncle Rich.

From my front yard. One was advertising my son's karate school. The other was a sign for the guy that came and cleaned out my AC ducts. The signs weren't taken on the same day, just a few days apart.
