From the Right Side of the Brain

Thank to all the terrific volunteers who made the Clay County Agricultural Fair such a great experience for the families of Clay County.

 My special thanks to the members of the Art Guild of Orange Park who volunteered over 400 hours of service time.  The members help receive artwork, hang the artwork, welcomed visitors to the Art Exhibit area and provided a "hands on" collage project to the children on the two Saturdays of the Fair.  The Art Guild has been offering their services for many years to make this event so popular!!

This past week 7 Art Guild members volunteered their time at the Middleburg Elementary Air Fair Day.  Members Virginia McCampbell, Judy Laye, Susan Mills and Connie Pratt assisted the children with a Mother's Day Card collage project, Lynette Woodman demonstrated Decoupage Techniques, Jennelle Comiskey demonstrated Ceramics and I provided a lesson in Handcolored Photography.  The event was a wonderful experience for all involved and we hope the children came away inspired and anxious to explore different creative outlets.

In keeping with our mission to raise awareness for the Visual Arts in Clay County we like to invite you to our upcoming "Small Wonders" Exhibition in the Great Hang-Ups Gallery & Framing,1560 Business Center Drive on Fleming Island. The exhibit will begin on April 20, with an Opening Reception where you can meet the artists on Sunday, April 22 from 2-4 and will hang until May 5.

Remember the Art Guild membership provides 7 rotating art exhibits in locations throughout Orange Park....so be aware that the wonderful work you are experiencing is provided by your artists.
