Fair & balanced...Strangely Quite

It has been strangely quite.  Rants against that godless, radical, left leaning democratic, liberal, Obama & his administration have been numerous.  Wrongs, real or imagined, substantiated or not, have been put forth.  Everything he & his administration has done, or have tried to do, has come under the scrutiny of the right in their ever present vigilant effort to be fair & balanced.  Even the name calling has been fair & balanced.  You name it.  Socialist.  Marxist. Liberal, (spit when you say that mister).

But while insisting on being fair & balanced, word one has yet to be seen in print on two conservative Republicans, pillars of the community, vociferous proponents of "family values," (genuflect when you say that) one, a proponent of impeaching Clinton for infidelity, hankieus pankieus in the White House & having the temerity to lie to the Congress & American people.  GASP!  The cad!  How dare he do something so heinous?  Oh.  OK.  I guess the criteria is that it's OK as long as you're not the president & didn't do it in the White House.  Yes.  That must be the absolute distinction.  So it must be OK for these conservative paragons of "family values,"  to break the law, break their vows & break their trust with their families & the people who voted for them.  That must be the "fair & balanced part," & why nothing has been seen in some second hand, rehashed copy & paste from some, any, right leaning publication.

And "GOOD GOLLY MS. MOLLY," we haven't seen any comments at all on 'activist judges,"  Very strange since it just happened.  Must be a slow news day & people are busy.  Maybe the far right is resting up for the upcoming 4th of July weekend.  Maybe the far right is busy with other priorities, like counting the blades of grass in their yards.  Maybe it's some kind of far right rule that "fair & balanced," should take a well needed break if it involves someone on the right.  Maybe that's why no mention of these news events have have been seen.  Yep!  "Fair & Balanced!"  That's the ticket."  But only when it is the responsibility of someone other than those on the far right.  One of these days I'll learn that.  JATFUR.

It has been quiet but I think that's a good thing. Especially when one knows something as twisted as the voglthang has the ability to stop clocks with a single glare. I'm wondering if she was one of the two "unusual" looking women at the start up of the Women's Democrat Hen Party I saw in the Leader today.

I am surprised that no one is bent out of shape with todays backpedaling by Obama and his disasterous attack on the health care system. Remember how he ridiculed McCain for wanting to tax healthcare benefits and now he wants to do the same thing? Only more so? The man is as big a failure as Clinton. Clinton never once told the truth in his entire two terms. He was and still is a man with no credibility. I almost slipped and said he was incredible but I didn't want to b misunderstood.

But I expect that from these poor example of political parties. Now we have the moron Sanford who at one time said if he had done what Clinton had done he would resign. Now like the lying weasel he has proven himslf to be why is he still there? These two parties disgust me.  And what is really nauseating is how the defenders of each party have the gall to claim that it's still the best system in the world. I no longer think so.

And now failed comedian, failed talk show host and soon to be failed senator, the ever disgusting Al Franken now represents a pathetically sad bunch frrom Minnesota. And people thought Sonny Bono in the House was ridiculous. Franken belongs in a prison.

So whattaya gonna do? Just like in Iran if you put forth a notion that the system should be scrapped the feds will come and cart you off to a gulag never to be seen or heard from again.

Talk about a rock and a hard place. Republicrats or Demolicans. No matter what you choose, you lose.

I keep wondering when Americans will wake up!

Rich,  Republican In Name Only is how I used to think of them.   Now I think of them all as gypsies, tramps and thieves (with apolgies to people from Romania).  During the Presidential Campaign I felt that a McCain was the best democrat running.

Al Franken just stole the election from Norm Coleman BUT  Norm Coleman was a lifelong Democrat until he decided to be the Mayor of St. Paul.  So except for the experience difference there really is no difference.

I wonder how many of today's local Republicans were Democrats when I first moved here in the 70's.  I remember at the time being told at the SOE that if I did not register as a democrat I would not be allowed to vote in local elections, since only democrats could vote.

This past cycle one of the republican leaders tried to get me to drop out because he was afraid I was taking votes from his candidate.   I was never sure if his candidate was the incumbent or the nin-cumbent.

I believe, as time progresses, with Michael Steele be impotent at making true change in the party, that I shall call myself an independent conservative.   This should make for an interesting November in 2012 when I run against the Republican, the Independent Liberal, and whomever else decides to run.

Yes, I wish I could still be a real Republican, the kind like Ronald Reagan.  I cannot tolerate to be a Democrat Lite (Why drink Near Beer.  You still go to the rest room as much)

OGV,

As unenamored as I am with O's progress, some would say lack of, I'm still willing to give him more time.  Let's face it, unless he gets caught doing something naughty, he won't get impeached, censured, etc, & will have his four years.  We also have to face the political realities, all partisan rhetoric aside, no person actually KNOWS what McCain or any of the other candidates would have done, or been able to do, given the same set of circumstances.  It would be pure speculation mixed with wishful thinking & political reality.  Every candidate promises something.  But when they have to actually deal with a budget & Congress, one can usually kiss the promises bye bye.

JD,

Funny thing, I've only read a few news reports on Franken, including the one in the TU, & nothing was mentioned about his having, "stolen," anything.  But I did have a sense of deja vu when I read that the state Supreme Court, "Unanimously ordered that he (Franken) be certified as the winner."  Maybe it's just because it's early & my coffee hasn't kicked in yet.

I can understand the frustration you & some Democrats must feel with the political choices you each face.  Having said that, I hope you can understand the frustration that indies like Lilly & I must feel.  And I'm not saying an independent would do any better.  I look at the field of candidates and must honestly tell myself that an indy has as much chance of winning any kind of higher office as an atheist or an agnostic.  They may have the best political record, the cleanest personal record & the best qualifications.  But who stops the process?  The American voters.  It's been covered many times before, especially on this venue.  Yes, I wish they would indeed, wake up & grow a few more brain cells.  But I'm not holding my breath.  JATFUR.

Rich, I don't think I mentioned impeachment. I wouldn't. After the Nixon and Clinton dramas I certainly don't want to see that again in my lifetime.

I also agree O hasn't lived up to the rhetoric but I don't think any realists expected that he would in such a short amount of time.  I certainly wish him the best and really hope I am the one who is wrong. This knee jerk reaction all taking place within five months is ridiculous. People need tolighten up already.

OGV,

....& we'll see it again.  I would venture to say that no matter how much a new president is liked or disliked, at no time in our history would we find the situation where no one was complaining, pointing out shortcomings, embellishing reports or any other manner of kvetching.  But that is our right.  It's also our responsibility.  It would, of course be nice, if besides complaining, some serious, realistic alternatives were offered.  In some cases they are.  In most cases, sadly, none.  Just wishful thinking, unstudied thoughts & the aforementioned kvetching.  On the other hand, I see it as being worlds better than apathy.

I agree, I wouldn't want to see another impeachment/censuring process.  One of these days, when time permits, I'll have to look up to see how many administrations went through either of the processes & why.  Could be interesting.

Have a great day all & be careful of the heat.  JATFUR.

Rich,

Wonderful family values are being modeled in the White House right now. Isn’t the paradox between the D.P. and the R.P. refreshing! All the Democrats have to do is sit back and give the Republicans more rope. They’ll do the rest. As for me, there was nothing new to write. No use dragging around a dead Sanford horse.  I’ve got too much fun summer to live!!! But thank you for saying what I was thinking!

What is amusing to watch is the slanted reporting of Mr. Drudge and then see it parroted here on this blog by the “in the know” pious right-wingers who give themselves so much credit for being brilliant!.  There is nothing, that I can see, posted on The Drudge Report about Sanford. So there is nothing posted here about Sanford. How amusing. There is a derogatory picture of Al on top of Drudge’s site. Ronald got his start in show business and he was the icon President. Al gets his start in show business and he is demoralized by the Republicans.

But, Rich, worst of all, just when I thought the Village Idiot was taking a noony-nap you had to go and wake him up! Haven’t you ever heard the saying, “Never bother a contented baby?” Off he went with one of his “I hate this country” whiney rants.   The V.I. must not have ever been out of his own backyard. Let’s take up a collection and send him off to Tijuana or Iran with the rest of the America-haters, for the remainder of his life.  I had a great laugh at the mention that I might be one of the ladies starting up the Women’s Democratic group. I’ve never stated if I am a man or a woman.

Then, surprisingly, he writes something calm and intelligent in the above comment. It’s like he is floating in and out of the belligerence of Alzheimer’s. Every time I see a doddering, old, ugly, curmudgeon of a man I think of the Village Idiot and wonder, with amusement, if it is him.

But while I’m here-

To the “party of balding white guys,”

(Former Republican Party national chairman Ed Gillespie, a White House counselor for George W. Bush http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2009-06-09-poll-parties_N.htm )

Even the McCain Staffers quickly lost faith in Sara Palin. They are speaking out now about her lack of ability and qualifications.

V,

I've been taking a breather from being a newsaholic, but got bored.  So I thought I'd make an observation especially since there was so much silence from certain sectors.

I've tried not to resort to name calling.  Instead, I've been doing my best to ignore  the more extreme & take them for what they are worth by considering the source.  I wouldn't be too harsh on OGV.  I've met him a few times & consider him a decent man.  I think you just hit him the wrong way & let's face it, that can happen with all of us.

Glad you enjoyed the post.  We shall see if there are any more comments.

Here is the rope that the DEMS have been handed...enjoy it V..,.

"cut and paste" from http://www.democrats-lie.com/

Did Dodd receive the most political contributions from Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac totaling more than $133,900? YES

After taking no responsibility on a Bloomberg Television Interview for the Fannie and Freddie scandal which caused the the financial crisis, did Dodd have the nerve to say "I have alot of questions about where the administration was for the past eight years?"

YES

Democrats love to point fingers and play the blame game when in fact they should be looking into a mirror at themselves and admitting that they are the people who caused this economic crisis by not taking care of the root of the problem with a lack of regulation of Fannie and Freddie in which they were receiving political contributions from and did not want that to end.

From 2002-2007 Bush made numerous requests calling for reforms of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, but Democrats in Congress repeatedly claimed that Fannie and Freddie was fine.

Did Alan Greenspan regularly warn Congress about the risks posed by Fannie and Freddie's holdings?

YES

According to Opensecrets.Org: "President Bush was receptive in wanting to reform both Fannie and Freddie. Bush clearly put good policy above good politics withholding Fannies and Freddies nominees to the board which would be a priviledge to serve on and rewards supporters. The Treasury under President Bush called for these reforms for Fannie and Freddie: Submit to regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission; to adopt financial accounting standards; to follow bank standards for capital requirements; to shrink their portfolios of assets from risky levels; and empowering regulators such as Office of Federal Housing Oversight to monitor the firms. In 2005 Republican Mike Oxley brought a Reform Bill, and Fannie and Freddie lobbyists set out to weaken it."

In 2006, Did AIG Ceo Joseph Cassano urge company executives to donate to Sen. Chris Dodd who was in line to take over chairmanship of the Senate Banking Committee in November 2006?

YES

Did Senator Chris Dodd provide a loophole in the February stimulus bill that allowed AIG to pay about $165 million in so called retention bonuses?

YES

Was Dodd a recipient of more than $280,000 over the last 20 years from employees and PAC's related to AIG?

YES

In 2001 Did Dodd bypass the normal Dept. of Justice vetting process in order to give a huge favor to his friend Downe could receive a full pardon by President Bill Clinton?

YES

Senator Chris Dodd's Ireland home includes a fellow felonious inside trader, a Kansas City businessman, and a Presidential pardon.

"In 1993, Dodd's close friend, New York bon vivant Edward R. Downe Jr., got a heaping helping of justice when his insider trader scheme caused him to plead guilty to violating tax and securities laws. Downe, who lived at exclusive 25 Sutton Place on the Upper East Side with his then wife, heiress Charlotte Ford, was nabbed setting up foreign accounts to make illegal insider stock trades for himself and some socialite friends. Dodd attended Downe's sentencing, where the schemer received three years' probation and 3,000 hours of community service. Downe agreed a year later to pay $11 million to the SEC.

"While Downe fought the SEC in 1994 about paying the penalty, Dodd and William Kessinger of Kansas City, Mo., whom Dodd knew through Downe, purchased a house and nearly 10 acres (4 hectares in local parlance) on the island of Inishnee in the affluent Roundtree section of Connemara, in County Galway, Ireland, for $160,000.

"Between 1994 and 2004, according to the Central Bank of Ireland, prices of existing homes (as opposed to new ones) nearly quadrupled. But not according to a 2002 bank appraisal that Dodd used in the purchase of Kessinger's interest.

"That year, a year after Dodd obtained a pardon for Downe, Dodd purchased Kessinger's two-thirds interest in the Irish hideaway for only $127,000, according to Dodd. Irish property records obtained for this story show it as $122,351. That was slightly more than its value eight eventful years before, but much less than what might have been expected given the explosion of Irish real estate prices." (source: Kevin Rennie's article"Dodd's 'Cottage': a Cozy Purchase", in the Hartford Courant, as quoted by Christopher Keating).

Joe

Thanks for throwing in some perspective here on the financial crisis. I posted on this in the past and even supplied the links to the video feeds to back it up. Bush, McCain and a few others warned of this problem and the disaster lurking if nothing was done about it and the Dems totally ignored it. Good old Barnie Frank went on cam and told the world that fannie and freddie were just fine and it was all allowed to continue.

I personally do not feel the need to give Obama more time. I can see what he is doing, and how it will hurt this nation. I know a socialist policy and agenda when I see one. I know that cap and trade means those earning less then 250,000 will be taxed more and controled more by the government. I know that socialized health care will fail becuase I have seen it before ask California, Massachussetts, Canada. I know that cigeretts are being raised 10.00 a carton more as of today and milk will be over 5.00 a gallon. I know the national debt has quadrupled in just a few months for a failed stimulus program that burdens future generations and stagnates the economy. I know that unemployment is 9.4 % the highest it's been in about 25 years.

The bottom line is I see the writting on the wall, and feel no need to give Obama more time. As song writter Bob Dylan would say, "You don't need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"
