On July 4th the Republican Liberty Caucus of Northeast Florida will be holding a Liberty Independence Day Celebration at Confederate Park, 956 Hubbard St., JAX. Events start at 10:00. Thomas Dilorenzo economist and author of Hamilton's Curse and the Real Lincoln is scheduled as the keynote speaker for the event. The lineup is to include Local Navy Band, military and flag dedication ceremonies music, singers and inspirational talks; and the print debut of the Jacksonville Liberty Journal. Please remember to bring a lawn chair, as seating arrangements may be overwhelmed.

Be sure to bring the whole family out, as there will be bouncy houses, pony rides and crafts for the children; as well as informational booths from organizations such as the Child I.D., USO, Justice Coalition, Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the Springfield Association. Carriage rides and historic tours of the Barnett Mansion are sure to offer yet another glimpse of Jacksonville's history and downtown flair.

July 5th Tea Party at the Castillo De San Marcos (the fort) in St. Augustine. 2-6 pm. Information tables on items of current interest and an open mike. Hosted by United American Tea Party, www.unitedamericanteaparty.com.

I will be working at the event on the 5th, probably at one of the tables talking to people. I didn’t attend any of the tea parties during the first round because I didn’t get it and didn’t know how big they would become. I also figured that if I was going to go, I might as well do a little work and meet some people, learn a little bit of what it takes to put an event together. The tea party people put a lot of work into this, the organizers are regular working people just like the rest of us, I don’t know where they found the time or the energy to put this together, not just the event itself, but also the fund-raising to pay for it all. It’s nice to meet a group of people with such a firm grasp of our Constitutional principles, and are willing to do the work to popularly promote those principles.
