Is carelessness A crime?

Yes it was a tragedy, The accident at 215 and Santa Clara Ave. took the life of  Katie Ray, 16, Christie Spear, 7, and her father Jeffrey Spear, 42, . I ask myself how many lives did this tragedy affect? How many friends and family members lives did this change forever. And how much pain and anguish has family and friends had to endure from the loss of the people they love from this tragedy. A tragedy that could have been avoided. Avoided by a simple warning sign placed 500 ft before the stop sign. Just like the one placed at the other end of Santa Clara and  county road 21, Blanding blvd . The intersection of Santaclare and 21 not only has a warning sign before the stop sign. The stop sign has a red flashing light on top of it. So, now I must ask myself  how many lives were taken at that intersection to warrant the county to place not only a warning sign before the stop sign, but also the red flashing light on the stop sign. I live in Middleburg and every day I pass the business of Kati Ray's father and his cry for justice for Kati on his sign out front. I just can't help to think that this whole tragedy would have been avoided if Clay County would have done there job and placed warning signs were they should be. and not wait till someone dies before they take action. The same type of accident happened a few weeks ago at the intersection of Rosemarry Ave.and 21 someone ran the stop sign and several people had to be life flighted to Shands. There was no warning sign at that intersection ether. How many more must die from the neglect of the Clay County. I say put justice were Justice belongs at the Counties feet. Not at the feet of Edward Abruscato for vehicular homicide. When did being careless become a crime? This case should be decided in the civil courts not criminal ! To convict him would not solve the problem, it would do nothing to fix it and would just destroy another family and more lives. By putting the blame were it belongs, with the county. Justice will be served not only for Kati ray, but for all the others that have, and will lose there lives form the neglect of Clay County. Warning signs should be placed before all stop signs leading out to a major road ways. When this happens Justice will truly be served for all.
