History Repeats Itself Again!

As I was sitting around with nothiing better to do I started watching the news.  As the talking heads were rambling on and on about mostly nothing my mind began to wander.

i suddenly realied that what we are experiencing today is extremely like the 1930's. Only this time it's the good ol' USA and not Germany.

I remember seeing news-reels of German's going to the grocery with wheelbarrows filled with money.  Today, the government is spending money almost as fast as it can be printed.  With nothing of value to back up the currency, it won't be long before inflation run's rampant.

I remember a German candidate who was a friend of the poor.  His name was Adolf Hitler.  Today we have a candidate who is a friend of the poor, His name is Barack Hussein Obama.

Hitler was a young man running against a much older man (Hindenberg)  Today Obama is a young man running against a much older man (McCain)

Hitler wrote a book called "Mein Kamph" (My Struggle)  Obama wrote a book called "The Audacity of Hope"

Hitler had a group to help him get elected outside the normal campaign committee called the SA. Obama has a similar group called ACORN.

Hitler had his own domestic terrorists led by a man named Himmler.  Obama has his own domestic terrorist named Bill Ayers.

Hitler had a minister of propaganda (Paul Joseph Goebbels).  Obama has a minister of something, Jeremiah Wright who pours out anti-jewish, anti-white and anti-american sentiments.

I expect the role of Adolf Eichmann will be filled by Louis Farrakhan

The other AXIS powers will be played by Iran (in the role of Italy) and Russia as Japan.

I'm truley afraid that this country is about to face a total makeover that very few will like.

I hope I'm wrong bt history has a bad habit of repeating itself.  I hope I never have to say "I Told You So".

Obviously I'm pulling for McCain

JD,

Your analogy is much too obvious.  Desperate times call for desperate measures by desperate people.  Unfortunately, you have shown a very desperate measure.  Just out of curiosity, just how many straws did you have to grasp at to think up this one?

I will give you credit on some points though.  At least you didn't call Obama an Arab or a Muslim.  Quite frankly, I thought you might be above such measures, leaving such things to the lower sorts.  I hope that this was an anomoly of some kind.  You might be surprised at some analogies that could be drawn about McCain.  Some already have.  One can use ones imagination & a bit of knowlege of history to make many analogies fit present conditions.  But that does not necessarily mean that they are apt, let alone accurate.

We have had seven & a half years of a failed administration that has produced a degree of divisiveness that we haven't seen since the Viet Nam era & the Nixon administration.  So I would ask just what is being accomplished by analogies such as yours, added to the vitriol, the lies, the innuendos, the bending, stretching & manipulation of facts that have marred this campaign?  In times such as this, do we really need more of the above injected into the national conscience?  Don't we have enough dirt heaped upon us by the partisan, do nothing, talk shows, the partisan political pundits & the ridiculous comments by the unlettered, unknowing masses from the mob mentality division of sound bite fantasy land?  Why would you want to add to it?

Yes, history does have the habit of repeating itself. If, & only if we ignore it.  I'm hoping that we will not.  It might be a fools errand to think it, but there has to be some people out there who have some respect of history & the realization that at least half of what we hear, see or read about the candidates, in the negative vein, is basically crap.  We, as voters, have a difficult enough time trying to wade through the BS that the candidates & all the rest have thrown our way.  I don't think any of us really needs to add to the dung heap.  JATFUR.

Ok, you sucked me in with the title "History Repeating Itself".   I thought it might be an intelligent blog.  However, if I had known what the post was about and this ridiculous analogy I sure wouldn't have clicked on your blog. This country does not need this kind of hatred.

Back in 1990, the Government seized the infamous and highly profitable Mustang Ranch brothel  in  Nevada for tax evasion. As required by law, tried to run it. They failed and it closed. Now we are trusting the economy of our country to a pack of nit-wits who couldn't make money running a whore house and selling booze.

now we expect them to bail out the banking industry and wall street, guess there is not much difference

Rich, ClayCounty - thanks for speaking out against the vitriol that JD is spouting.  Fred, appreciate the factual humor.

JD, the reason I'm surprised is that on occasion, you have made some sense.  This time, not so much.  You and I had some reasonably intelligent and informed email exchanges prior to the August election. I didn't think you were a kool-aid drinker or fear monger until this blog and some of your others of late.

I am an extreme history   buff (in case you couldn’t tell).  And as I have been watching  both CNN and FOX (trying to get a balanced perspective) it occurred to me that I had heard all this before.  I broke out my DVD collection and history books before I posted  the above.  The overall similarities were downright scary to me.

For the record my choice for president dropped out of the race the day before I was forced to vote during early voting back in January since I had to get out to Arizona for 2 weeks bridging the actual voting day.  (Super Bowl trip for the NFL).  I voted for my number 2 choice and he lost too.

I have looked at what each candidate says he will cost me and I have chose the less expensive of the two.

Neither choice is one I would make but there is not a viable 3rd choice available.  I actually voted for a 3rd party candidate once (not Perot) and felt I had spoken my mind but I also felt my vote was wasted.

This is a terrible campaign, there is no doubt about it but still we all must choose.  Voting is not a right, it is a responsibility.

I am reminded of those 3 little monkeys, See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil when I listen to McCain.  I am also reminded of Bob Dole’s failed campaign.

As a local politician (albeit a failed one)  I feel like I am an umpire in a ball game (I umpired Little League back in the 80’s). So, I gotta calls ‘em like I sees ‘em.

On a serious note, I think that those dudes handling our great economic recovery need to look at history and be prepared.

Connect the price of gasoline with economic declines, I think history will show a connection.  As to today's crisis which will be with us through 2010 and perhaps 2011 a big failing of this administration and the future one to come has been and will be failure to keep big oil priced low.

Those who follow the flow of money, printing 700 billion new dollars should drive the dollar down against other currency and increase the price of oil.  Why print 700 billion new dollars the simple reason is all our cash and expendible income went to the oil producers.  It took less than a year to drive us to our knees.

So JD as long as oil is produced in the mid east all our cash will be there and we will not have enough here to fill a wheel barrow.

Fred,

When someone posts something on the Internet that others may disagree with the negative responses are called "Flaming".  To protect against flaming requires a flame retardant suit.

To Night I am working with the National Hurricane Center as Omar approaches the Virgin Islands and possibly Peurto Rico.  I hope I can get away to watch the last debate

I just didn't quite grasp your last two postings JD.  Lots of lost rambling.

Your original blog is a little off the deep end.  I just don't think that this country is set up for that kind of failure.  I don't care for some of Obama's connections, but i also don't think he's as smart as Hitler.  To compare him to Hitler, while again i don't for him and won't vote for him is one of the worst insults i could think of.
