DANTHEMAN EDUCATIONArmed with a copy of the Green Cove Springs city charter i agreed to meet with Dantheman. As it turns out ,Dan is fairly new in town and like many others in the city, has never read the city charter. There are rules the city manager must follow when he does projects. He is not allowed to spend more than the council approves. If the project is going to over run the projected cost,he must ask the council for more money.(THAT IS THE LAW)Now on many occasions that i know of the city manager has violated this law.I.E. Dunbar Gym,show me where the council authorized him to spend $280,000.00 dollars.Show me where the city council authorized him to spend over $150,00.00 on a bathroom in Spring Park. (YOU CAN'T)These monies were spent without approval of the council and is a viloation of our charter .The city charter is there to protect the citizens of our town, the city manager has a limit on how much he can spend(UNDERTHE CHARTER) without council approval. The city council is bound by law to enforce our charter ,if they don't they are as guilty as the city manager.I was proud of most members of the council when they voted to investigate the city managers spending on the Spring Park project.(MRS.RICKS VOTED NOT TO UPHOLD OUR CHARTER) Thank god she is gone.(DUMB AND DUMER)I was suprised at Mr. Page's vote of yes,but what the heck he is up for re-election soon.At the end of the day Dan and i seen things about the same,he got an eductaion on the charter, and i made a new friend.Don't get confused with the issue,it's simple, did the city manager violate the charter or not? outofsort I am realy glad to see that you are involved in education for the interest of the greater good of the general public. What does the city charter say about residency requirements of the city council members? Are you going to educate us on that too? Please do I am really interested if you are willing to be as unbias considering the alledged move that John Buchanan just made...we will see.. Submitted by deekim3 on Sat, 10/11/2008 - 3:45pm.
Politics101, Yes there was an investigation of Dunbar HS. The City's auditors investigated and blistered Don for violating purchasing laws. I have no idea how much money the City taxpayers lost in that deal. City Council let Don save his own skin by making a public apology and promising that he wouldn't violate the law again. Here the City is, five months later going through the same thing. As Kelter said the other morning in an e-mail: its deja vu all over again. As I said yesterday: Don is not going to change until somebody really punishes him. People are talking about ...Here are the recent blog postings with the most comments. |
