The Owners Manual

The following is an owners manual for the proper care & feeding of the intellect.

There are limitless possibilities.  Don't limit your intellect.  Give it room to excercise, room to roam.  Go ahead & daydream but make it productive.

Feed it a diet of healthy nutritious thoughts & challenges.  No junk thinking allowed.  Don't forget to give it plenty of rest.

Challenges--don't be afraid of a challenge.  No risk, no knowlege, no reward, no progress.

Don't be afraid of making a mistake.  Be very afraid of not learning from it & then repeating it.

Don't assume a person or an idea is right or wrong.  Use your intellect to  find out.

As in other things, the right tools for the right job.  Wrong tools:  Assumptions not explored, resignation, unquestioned authority, indifference, intellectual flatulence.  Right tools: doubt, questioning, research, testing, common sense, comparing.

Be respectful of others, but not blindly accepting.

Believe if you think it useful. But beware of the risks.  At BEST, you only have a 50-50 chance of being right or wrong.  If you don't even bother to take the time to learn something, you learn nothing.  You will then be responsible for the slow death of your intellect.  Sometimes, it's best not to gamble.

Be Brave.  Be bold.  Try a new concept.  Be long on ear & short of mouth ay first.  Questions first, learning second & opinions third.

When you do learn something, don't take too long to be satisfied with yourself.  Always allow your intellect to ask, "What's next?"

Don't be afraid if all you have are doubts & questions at first.  After all, they are the paving stones to building a better intellect.

It's not sufficient to sure of your opinions.  Substantiate them.  After all, everyone has an opinion, along with other things.

Please, always remember & don't ever forget.  A mind is a terrible thing to waste.

JATFUR.

I needed that. A few lessons in there I forgot. It's been one of those days. Well maybe more than one.

This is what I thought the blog was supposed to be for. I thought if everyone was anonymous we could all talk straight. I think these life lessons of Solos would be useful for that CAN group. Cripes what a bunch socialists that bunch turned out to be. I never heard so many unsubstantiated thoughts out loud in a loooong time. Also, maybe MCS could have a poison pill put in to immediately delete anything with CCAC in the title or reject anything and any name dreamed up by Don The Noodle Rammon. It is a shame so much internet space is wasted with that junk.

That was an odd little meeting the other night. I do think some of those people are somewhat "off".  Especially the cadaverous old man who apparently left his life support equipment at home. I'm surprised you didn't give us a recap Solo. I would have liked to have spoken up but as the meeting clearly had nothing to do with the ammendments under discussion, having been yanked by the court, it was a bit unnerving watch it deteriorate into petty sniping back and forth by the socialists and the voucher backers as to how best to improve the schools. Neither side has a clue but they certainly do not lack for vitriol. What is the saying? "He isn't always right but he's never in doubt".   Ah well, what can you do?

Lily, you scamp. You were there and didn't introduce yourself. Smile

That's OK. I understand. It is not a requirement.

I'm just glad you were there to see the festivities. It did get a bit sidetracked once in a while didn't it?

I know, I'm sorry about that Mike. It's bad enough being borderline agorophobic and going to meetings such as these is hard on this old body. I suppose I was expecting a higher brow form of conversation or information exchange. I think I may fair better at one of those cock figts I read about from time to time. Some of those people are a butterfly net swing away from incarceration.

Mike, OGV, Lily,

Always happy to supply a life lesson her & there, as well as receive one.  Yes, some people at the CAN meeting were getting a bit tedious, but it was, after all, a public forum & I found nothing worse than what we've had to endure from some people here on the blogs.

Lily, Mike, OGV & I were trying to guess if you were there & who might you be.  One problem, there were so many gorgeous, outspoken women there, it made picking rather difficult.  We thought you might have been the woman in the front row.  She came closest to the personality we've become accustomed to.  Oh well, maybe next time.  But shame on you for not giving us a chance to meet you.

Some of those people are a butterfly net swing away from incarceration.

Would that be the ones at the cock fight or the ones at the meeting the other night?

There's a reason I don't do cast netting. I'm always afraid someone is going to fling one over me and take me away.  Smile

Oh good.  A Clay Action group sounds more productive.  I agree with eliminating the 2 extra  commissioners.

Me too.Smile I'm always for less government. I've never seen one instance where more government translated into better government.

I think I have gotten that impression by now.  It must have been something you said.

It was that obivous.Laughing Well each day is a new day. Today government has taken over Freddie Mack and Fannie Mae. I hear we have a line of people wanting to be taken over by the government. I think Chrysler, Ford, and GMC are waiting in line too. I can see one upside. My stocks are happy today.

Yeah I found a couple of those folks to be in dire need of a net. I pretty much am amazed they are able to sit upright in their chairs. How they can have opinions on schools when they haven't been in one in decades is hard to get.

For all of those misguided, provincially minded people who don't accept the THEORY OF EVOLUTION, I offer as primary evidence this & a number of other blogs.  I LOVE IT! There is absolutely NOTHING like facts & evidence to smack the crap out of unfounded opinions.  Badda Boom, Badda Bing, y'all.  JATFUR.
