Almost all the bloggers comments about rhe Districtrict 5 race are at least partially correct. Low turn-out is usually a little better in formed voter, but also people will make more effort to vote against something than for. Incumbents are volunerable to their record, should it be unsatifactory.( Which is the real term limiter ) In J.D. 's case entering late and having no money made a huge difference. I can't begin to tell you how many people said they were affraid to vote for hm because it would assure Rutlege winning. Then to top it off Robinson's camp. spread that Rutlege put J. D. in to dillute the anti- vote that the polls showed that he had. Another big unpredictable is that a sizeable number of voters will get all worked up over maybe one or two races but vote in all, not knowing anything about the other races.
AIN'T POLITICS JUST WONDERFULL ???
JUst so you know, until I joined the race in April Rutledge was wunning unopposed. I had thought he was running for the new Chairman's job, which he had been until he changed his mind. I entered the race one full month BEFORE Robinson. I had heard some of those "dilution" messages also. I was thinking the whole time that a vote for Robinson was a vote for Rutledge. I was wrong! I won't be again.
Let's hope that Robinson surprises us, Clay County deserves better. Let's hope we get it.
