Mailout: Letter from Shorstein to Beseler

We have been trying to make the connection between Taylor and Shorstein, and now we have it.  Would the letter have gone out without Taylor's approval?  Maybe, but it seems to me this is an orchestrated effort. 

...at least we will have seen the last of Harry Shorstein. I never liked him as I felt he was a bureaucratic hack. Now I see him as a thin skinned weasel out to tarnish a good woman's name. What a pathetic excuse of a man this Harry Shorstein is. And thank the deities that be he was never appointed a judge. Good bye, Good luck and good riddance, Harry!

Is it a copy of the one that was on the TU website?

    In today's "Clay Today" I saw an ad in which Beseler and two other Sheriffs endorsed Corey for attorney, Shorestein is for Plotkin and against Corey and Beseler.

     Both CCSO and SAO are law enforcement agencies.  Is Beseler/Corey against Shorestein/Plotkin/Taylor part of a larger power struggle in the law enforcement community?  Also, Ive heard a great deal about animosity between Shorestein and Beseler, what is the cause of this?

     Personally, I already voter for Newman and Plotkin.  I picked Newman because I like him, and Plotkin as an alternative to Corey; I heard Corey speak at the Ridgeview Forum and I just consider her to be really goofy.

I checked the TU website and did not find the letter, but did find a reference to the letter in an article.  Yes, that is the letter that somehow got reproduced and sent out to registered voters, with no return address.  This is just so low.  There is no way Beseler would send this out, so that leaves two choices, maybe three.  Which one do you think?

Jax FOP would be my guess. In my Clay Today (today) there is an ad placed by the Jax Public Safety Officers Committee (aka FOP of Duval) supporting Taylor. They really are dumping a lot of money in supporting him! Makes me want to run in the opposite direction!

How do think they got the copy?  Shorstein cc them?

I wouldn't put it past Shorstein. Does anyone know if the letter was ever released to the media? I thought it was in the TU or on the news.................

This is the first time I have ever posted on the blogs, but I have been a reader since MyClaySun went online.

I have never felt compelled to offer my two cents before. However…

Today, I received a letter with an amateurish anti - Beseler brochure and a copy of a letter from Shorstein to Beseler.

The letter was addressed personally to me, with no honorific before my name nor was my husband's name on the envelope.

The handwriting seemed "young," as though a teenager had written it. I suspected that my daughter's boyfriend, who is a Mormon, had sent it (as he is also a Taylor supporter) and wanted to share his ideals, but was too embarrassed to approach me directly.

I was slightly offended that he had not used an honorific in the address, but otherwise gave the letter little thought.

Now as I read the blogs, I find that I was not alone in being the beneficiary of this underhanded tactic designed to avoid identifying its author (obviously not my daughter's boyfriend after all - I should have known he had more courage than that in standing up for his convictions).  

How dishonorable and cowardly! If one is going to accuse/challenge someone, the least one can do is show one’s face.

I will have to admit the mailing served its purpose: it helped me make up my mind about the race for sheriff.

I'll be voting for Beseler.

I could not agree with critical more.  Clearly you are the last of the Mohicans.  I can only assume by your dedication to this doomed cause that you are blinded by hatred.  Maybe you have never won anything before so this feels normal.  I know, plenty of people have 8th place ribbons on their I love me wall.  Don't get me wrong, I admire your dedication but Tuesday night when you are the only one left at the Taylor wake, as you're putting on your members only jacket (since you like being the last one left) don't be mad, just know in your heart that your a loser.  Not everyone can be a winner, it's just life, plus what would all the suicide counselors do if there were not people like you.  Have a nice day.

Yes, it is a copy of the same Shorstein letter you posted.  We received ours yesterday along with the "Asleep at the Wheel" brochure.  I have not read it all yet.

Thanks for the answer. I never get anything good in the mail. This letter has been public records since June of this year. Anybody could have gotten a copy. Heck its even on the website for MCS and the TU.

I think if they really wanted to make their point for voters to understand the importance of that letter. They should have included the article I've linked. The statement I am referring to:

I don't think this makes the Sheriff's Office or the prosecutors look good either.

However, the repeated attempts to get help from the Sheriff's Office that went ignored may have cost this woman her life. I think the real jest of the facts were the depositions of sworn statements that were given by several in the Sheriff's Office including the Sheriff. It paints the clearest picture and why that man was released. Which is what is being talked about in Shorstein's letter.

It is ironic that the Sheriff sent the first letter and this is Shorstein's reply. It funny how those supporter seem to think everyone else strikes first. Right!

Here's is the news report that Beseler submitted a letter to the press but refused to go on camera. In the report the Sheriff states: "The sheriff admits not all of the facts of the case are clear cut, but said he wishes prosecutors would have let a jury decide Weirer's guilt or innocence." You will need to view the video and the statements of the reporter.

I am with you!  

I agree with Angela in this case, thyis is an excellent example why Clay County needs a new Sherriff and State Attorney.  If the paper work was indeed done so poorly that it would cause this man to be able to shoot and murder an unarmed woman like a dog and Walk, then the deputies need a different leader. 

If the SAO felt that this case did not have sufficient evidence to go to trial then that is an indictment on the Shoretien/Plotkin administration and their revolving door.  How many more of his playmates does he get to murder?
