Folio strikes again

Some candidates are their own worst enemy. In this weeks Folio Wayne Spivey say's that the Bronze Star he recieved back in the Viet Nam era was not for valor as he stated back in 2004. He claims he forgot that it wasn't for "VALOR".  I can't imagine somebody that stupid getting elected to office. Just what can you believe that he say's? I would hate to think that this is better than an incumbent you know.

THEESE ARTICLES ARE TAKING ALL THE FUN OUT OF POLITICS. YOU CAN'T EVEN TELL A LITTLE WHIT LIE ANY MORE

Maybe we should just start calling Folio and see who they want us to vote for in the elections. Then we could be an alternative county like they are an alternative newspaper. Then maybe we could get some independents and democrats who can actually get on the ballot to vote for in the county.Smile

He forgot it wasn't for Valor? Who the heck is he kidding? Most of the Bronze Stars given for Valor are accompanied by a Purple Heart. And a good many were awarded posthumously.

I knew there was something I didn't like about him when I saw his blog with 300-400 word answers to questions that were supposed to held to 75 words. It smacked of arrogance and deception.

This is totally unacceptable. He owes an apology to every veteran and especially to all those that were actually cited for Valor. This was obviously a ploy to garner votes in the last election.

It is also illegal to claim a medal you do not have:

Any false written or verbal claim to a decoration or medal ............. is a federal offense punishable by up to six months in jail and up to a $5,000 fine.

I cannot fathom a person claiming a decoration that they are not entitled to. It is just plain wrong on so many levels. He cheapens even his own time in service by lying.

Mike Heemer seems to know everything about everyone, why doesn't he know about Susan Armstrong and James Jett?  Politics and Bedfellows!  You said that you got all your facts before you blogged here.  Hmmmmmm!  Questionable, now were you lying?

Why don't you ask Wayne Spivey about his Bronze Star?  He does have one, you know!  You can not believe much of what Susan Armstrong says.  She puts her own words into her articles or maybe someone else's words!

Call Mr. Spivey on the phone, he will talk to you, he has nothing to be ashamed of.

You said:

"I cannot fathom a person claiming a decoration that they are not entitled to. It is just plain wrong on so many levels. He cheapens even his own time in service by lying."

All the more reason not to believe the Folio Article.  With all of Wayne Spivey's military credentials why would one doubt him?  He can prove that he has a bronze star.  Should he hold a press conference and hold it up for you?

It amazes me at how shallow some bloggers are.  Where is that bus?  Get to the curb, finder.

Submitted by OneMann on Thu, 08/21/2008 - 1:55pm.

It doesn't matter if that was reported by Folio Weekly, CNN, Jon Stewart or our own little blogging community.  When someone running for office can seriously say they forgot there was no valor involved in their Bronze Star, that's just funny.

Of course, it's funny if you overlook how insulting it is to the service men and women who claimed their Bronze Star was awarded for valor and were actually telling the truth.

And it's funny if you overlook that another politician expects us to be stupid enough to believe things like the absence of personal valor just slips someone's mind.

Good thing it wasn't a Purple Heart. It might have slipped his mind that the scar on his butt isn't from an enemy bullet, but a splinter on the seat in the camp latrine.

Having a Bronze Star is NOT the same as having a Bronze Star with a 'V' for Valor. He was asked about it and his words were he forgot that it was NOT for Valor.

BS! You do NOT forget that you did not get your butt shot at and were not a hero.

I don't want to see the medal. I know what they look like. I am in possession of my Father-in-Law's that he earned during WWII.

I want to see the citation that went with it. Does it say for Valor? If it doesn't, he lied and tried to garner accolades that he did not deserve. It is that simple. Claiming heroism when in fact it was NOT is just plain low.

And scoop, I earned those big ears. They're mine and I make no claim that they were earned for heroism.

As for the flippy tongue, well if you are going to lie about being cited for Valor when in fact you were not then you darn well better expect some heat from veterans.

I hate to use names, but since they were already raised, I could use some good campaign gossip that doesn't involve the race for sheriff.

Scoop (love the username, by the way), what is it about Folio Weekly reporter Susan Armstrong and County Clerk James Jett that Heemer should know?  Heck, I'll even suggest some good rumors to get us started.

How about they're having a torrid affair?  Or that James Jett is Susan Armstrong's own Clay County Deepthroat who supplies her with information she uses against other politicians?  Just for you pervs, how about a combination the two?

Heck, even if rumors I just spread are true, it would not negate the accuracy of the information Folio printed.  Folio did not assert that Spivey doesn't have a Bronze Star, but that he now says his four-year-old claim that valor was somehow attached to it was just a lapse in memory.

"She puts her own words into her articles or maybe someone else's words!"  OK, I can't argue the logic of that at all.  In fact, I spent a few years writing a news story here and there and I cannot recall a single instance where I did not have to resort to the dirty tactics of using my own words, or maybe someone else's.  I feel so dirty now, but at least there were any big blank spaces in the paper where my story was supposed to be.

Over the years, I've heard a lot of people refer to the lies and distortions printed in Folio.  Always just a blanket statement, though, and no one ever actually points to an actual lie or distortion.  It always comes down to complaining about "slant" or "bias" but not actual facts.

I wish Folio could afford to send another dozen reporters to camp out at Clay County government.  Maybe then we'd learn about more of the crap we need to clean up.

I would like for Folio to actual prove that political and/or personal connections have denied that family justice. And not assumptions as it was presented in the latest article. That would make a clean sweep of many in our county and some outside as well. I would think if they help that family with a cover up then many other families have been denied justice due to politicial and/or personal connection too. Bring on the information. As they say put up or shut up. I don't care what newspaper exposes corruption but the fact that they do. If they have information/proof this has happened then it needs to be presented.

I believe we were discussing Mr. Spivey's lying about earning a Bronze Star for Valor rather than just a plain Bronze Star without the V.

I have no clue what you are talking about unless you are trying to bring your anti Beseler rant into this conversation. Which I really wish you wouldn't do. It is your right to do so but it would be nice if we could leave this blog for this topic.

Angela;

Are you old enough to remember those? The 45, 78 and 33 1/3 RPMs?

If you played the same tune over and over and over again eventually it would get a worn spot and the needle would keep skipping back over the same line again and again and again until you got tired of hearing it.

I think you've worn a groove in that record and need to get a new one.

You and Don actually have a lot in common. You write better than he does but neither of you has changed subjects for a long time.

His subject of choice is his dislike for Connie Goon, yours is your dislike of Beseler. At least Don stays within his blogs. You on the other hand will do all you can to hijack any blog you possibly can to spread your mantra everywhere you think you can.

I didn't think the article was about Beseler. As a matter of fact I've never seen her do an article about Beseler. I thought it was about Mike Taylor and his family. I thought they presented information showing us a well-connected Mike Taylor and family were given personal and/or politicial connections. Those connections covered up crimes that have been committed. I didn't see Beseler in there anywhere. When I asked for proof or if this was a distortion it didn't have anything to do Beseler. Maybe you have a misunderstanding unless you are saying Beseler is covering up for Taylor. That's the only way I can see how you came to the Beseler conclusion here.

Maybe instead of considering the mullet wrapper she is writing for, we should consider who her source is from Clay County with all the information she prints.  She has stated that she has a reliable source in the Clay County Courthouse.  I believe that  this "reliable source" she claims to have is none other than Jazzy Jett.  He has ulterior motives for power and control of Clay County Politics.

Who is going to pay Susan Armstrong's attorney fees?  Look out sister, your time is coming for your lies and twisted stories!  Mr. Jett will have to pay his own attorney fees since the Appellate Court in Atlanta, Georgia has ruled that Mrs. Barthlow does not have to pay them for him.  Her lawsuit is not frivolous as Mr. Jett stated it was in a Forum at the FI Library earlier in this campaign.  Or, will the citizens of Clay County have to pay for Mr. Jett's attorney fees even though he was sued personally?

finder, I think that you should check on the statement that Mr. Spivey said he forgot about the valor part of the bronze star medal.  I think that was some of Susan Armstrong's phoney information that she claims to have been told.  Mr. Spivey has served to preserve our constitutional rights.  One of which is freedom of speech and that is why Susan Armstrong is allowed to print her trash.  Susan Armstrong is James Jett's Puppet.  He definitely pulls her strings!

Here you go OneMann:  Why won't the newspapers in the surrounding area ever print anything bad about James Jett?  It certainly is not because nothing exists to print!  If Mr. Jett has all of these Law enforcement credentials as he claims, then why didn't he stay in law enforcement?  Could it be because he was caught sleeping on the job when he was a dispatcher for the OPPD? What was that mix up about all the firearms that were missing at the OPPD?  Could it be because as a security officer at the OP Dog Track he accosted a girl in the elevator?  Didn't she sign a gag order and didn't Jett or someone else pay money to keep her quiet? By the way, the statute of limitations is up on that gag order now and the person is free to speak her mind.  Wasn't he caught in the stairwell of the Courthouse when he was a Commissioner in a compromising position with a girl who also worked for the BBC?  Weren't they both married to other people at the time?  When Jett beat John Keene for Clerk of Court, didn't he leave his wife that very night for the woman he is married to today?  Tigers' stripes don't change and he is running around on the wife now, too!  Why doesn't anyone care about this?  It is just common knowledge about Jazzy's reputation.  Those who know, please speak out.

The county cars are parked for now, but if elected he will be driving one all over again without reservation (for his personal use).  Spending our hard earned money on his gasoline and insurance!  Please wake up Clay County!

Sorry to call you names finder, but you called Mr. Spivey names, too and it isn't nice.  It hurts feelings and I apologize.  You need to apologize as well.

Oh. I forgot one thing, maybe Jett has the local newspapers in his back pocket after the wife of one newspaper man stole a tennis bracelet from a store in the OP Mall and it was nicely and neatly taken care of.  They are afraid to print anything bad about Jett for fear that the issue might resurface.  What else does Jett hold over heads to prevent knowledge of his wrongdoing? (Employees included)

I am so sick of hearing about Paige Barthlow and Jimmy Jett.  Jett is a good man and Barthlow is a sick witch.  I personally know her.  She sued relatives in the past. As far as Susan Armstrong, I bet you anything a team of lawyers reviewed that article before it came out.  She can't be sued if the information is fact.  Slander?  Taylor does that to himself, both he and his son.  He can't tell the truth about religion, how can anyone believe him? If scoop4ugo is Paige I have one suggestion.  Get a job, do an honest day's work for an honest day's pay, learn to get along with people, and stop stabbing people in their backs.  Nobody wants to be a friend of someone who slices like you do.

Wow I hit a nerve.  Not false allegations.  Truth. I've known both Jett and her for many years.  Jett is one of the finest men I know.  Barthlow is all about money.  So is Angela really Paige?  Your buddy Spivey needs a lesson in respect.  You do not claim honors that have not been bestowed on you.  You don't disrespect those who earned them that way.

Submitted by Angela on Thu, 08/21/2008 - 5:36pm.

I didn't say any allegation were true or false. Maybe you should read what I wrote and see that I said you should check into the laws concerning invasion of privacy. You said, "She can't be sued if the information is fact." I say that's not true. Can she prove that politicial or personal connections have caused justice to be denied this family. Can the family prove that politicial or personal connections have denied them justice?

No I'm not Paige either.

Submitted by Critical on Thu, 08/21/2008 - 5:40pm.

Again, you are incorrect. If she wrote an article based on information that was factual, she cannot be sued. Whether you agree or not is beside the point.

Submitted by Angela on Thu, 08/21/2008 - 5:43pm.

Well maybe you should check on false light claims and invasion of privacy. Do you know what they are? Do you understand what invasion of privacy for people who are not public people means in print? Again if they presented information that personal and/or political connection denied that family justice. I hope they can back that statement up. If not, wouldn't that be false information.

I seriously doubt that you are sorry but that is OK. I've been called a lot worse on a good day. No harm, no foul.

However, I did not call him names. I simply made a statement that he lied.

Here are the questions:

Did his web site 4 years ago say he had a Bronze Star with a V for Valor?

Does his web site this year say the Bronze Star is with a V for Valor? No it does not.

If the citation does not state that the Combat V for Valor is authorized then he lied when he made that statement 4 years ago. If it did say that why would he not say so now?

Mike Taylor is running for public office, therefore he is a public person. I KNOW you are not telling me to understand something before I blog, are you? Because that would just be too funny.

Doesn't matter. If the information is factual, there will be no winning lawsuit.

Why don't you hold your breath for one?

Submitted by Angela on Thu, 08/21/2008 - 6:59pm.

I'm just wondering who the target of the article is? Is it Mike Taylor and the family who stated they were attempting to stop his election? Is it Adam Taylor who is not a public person? Is it political and/or personal connection that still need to be proven that denied them justice? Just what was the attempt of the article? And who was it's target. Were they a public or private person? I think I'll wait to see what the damages are before I decide about the any legal actions.

Submitted by Critical on Thu, 08/21/2008 - 7:01pm.

Unless your last name is Taylor, it is not up to you to decide anything.

If by damages you mean the election, it would be a moot point anyway, because Mike Taylor is the one running for office. The false light allegation would not hold water.

Submitted by Angela on Thu, 08/21/2008 - 7:16pm.

Well I guess we'll have to wait and see what the damages are and to whom the damages occurred. I'm still looking for proof that politicial and/or personal connections denied this family justice. To date I haven't seen that information. I'm certain when Folio has that proof they will publish the information.
