Fay Makes Landfall
Fay has been an interesting storm for an amateur weather guy to watch! It just now has made its second Florida landfall in SW Florida. The forecast tract now has the storm passing back out into the Atlantic around Daytona. That's when things get interesting. The storm is not, at this time, expected to be strong because of the interaction with land BUT the storm is expected to make ANOTHER landfall, again in Florida! This time in Duval County. I know that sounds strange but that's the forecast. Apparently the winds that steer storms like this are causing a lot of confusion for the multiple models used and the forecasters as well. The normal forecasts within the shorter time frames are usually pretty accurate with a variation to the predicted tract of only +/- 50 miles at this point. Not so with Fay! My best guess is we should continue to watch this storm. With all the twists and turns it's a good thing it is not a major storm. On the bright side the aquifer needs as much recharging as it can get. JD Pd. Pol. Adv. JD you may want to make sure you report the weather at each place where the voting is taking place. if your supporters are mudders Just tell everyone it is raining and you will win. If your supporters are fair weather people then make sure you brief all voters it will be clear and sunny.

I think it was January of 2006 (or maybe 2007) when Jim Cantore spent a few days in our old home county of Oswego NY. They had record snowfalls in several of the townships there, and he visited them all and was having a lot of fun in the snow. We got a real kick out of watching him in places we were so familiar with. And you're right Maxie - if there's any real weather news, he's there! JD, figured I would hijack your weather blog and let you know I voted today. True to my word when you predicted weeks ago that you had a vision I would not be on the ballot, by the way whose crystal ball was you using, might want to borrow it for playing the lotto.
I connected the arrow for the longest name on the ballot and the two letters.
I will share with you some of my logic on who I voted for on the Judgeships. There are two classes of candidates for the position of Judge. We have the old guard that in my opinion assumes they will be kings and have all the power, and then we have women and first time offenders of the power elite. I view women judges as being superior, first they listen to the cases before them before making decisions, and they are less influenced by special interests since most special interests are chauvenists. Therefore, you can see my logic, of course one of the races did not have a woman, who would have been my first choice, therefore I voted for what appears to be a first time offender of the old guard.
My logic about women also translated to the district attorney race.
However, I must say that I voted for a man for at large, although my druthers are to eliminate that position and the chair position. Now the criteria I used for that vote was a bit different. I selected the person with the most innovative advertising of his candidacy. The fan idea on a hot day sealed it for me, knew he had to be innovative plus I counted the signs outside the early voting prescint and he had the least number.
For the supervisor of elections i had to put on my thinking cap, did I want to vote for the candidate who on paper has the most credentials for the job, or did I want to vote for a career politician? Oh wait there was a third candidate if I remember correctly there was a lady with some experience, and had less money to campaign and had fewer signs cluttering the landscape. This of course was tough and a real nail biter so my concern for the environment won the day.
I encourage you all to get out and vote, if it is raining like it was this morning or sunny it does not matter get in the game even if you have to wear galoshes. You are welcome to use my criteria for selecting your choice or you can form your own. Just do not Judge a book by its cover sometimes the brightest and best people are the ones that garner the least financial support.
Ok JD back to you for more voting weather repors.
