Promises Promises Promises

Promises Mike Taylor has made to the UNION that will be detrimental to the CITIZENS and TAX PAYERS of Clay County. Why has he made these promises, because this is what the UNION wants. 

1. Mike Taylor will agree to binding arbitration.

 I am not going to address that here. I addressed it sufficiently in my blog CCSO HELD HOSTAGE. Respectfully, if you want the truth about binding arbitration read the blog.

2. Mike Taylor will allow the deputies to take their patrol cars home if they live out of the county.

          How does a deputy with his car out of the county, sitting in his driveway, benefit the CITIZENS (the people that pay for the gas and maintenance costs) of Clay County? The answer is simple; it does not benefit them in any way. Often a car is placed out of service but the deputy that the car is assigned to must still go to work. When that happens, the supervisor must find a spare car. If there are not any at fleet maintenance, he must get it from an off-duty deputy. If that car he needs is sitting out of the county that just adds to time and expense of getting that car into service and then back to the deputy that it is assigned to. Our deputies are very fortunate to have a car assigned to them for their exclusive use. In many agencies, the officers have to share cars.

In this time of financial hardship and uncertainty, Mike Taylor will add to the cost of operating the Sheriff’s Office, not save money as Sheriff Beseler has done. Where will that money come from you ask? Where do you think it will come from, your pockets.

Citizens, do you approve of Mike Taylor needlessly spending your hard-earned money this way?  

3. Mike Taylor will do away with the physical fitness test. (This one is my personal favorite.)

Deputy to Victim: Sir, I am very sorry that I cannot chase down that man that just raped your wife or daughter or girlfriend; or ma’am I am sorry but I cannot chase down that guy that just stole your purse; or folks, I am very sorry that I can not chase down that guy that just burglarized your home or car (or make up your own scenario); you see, Mike Taylor did away with our physical fitness requirements and now I am too fat or otherwise too out of shape to run. You all did get a good look at him, right; because since I cannot run after him and apprehend him, we will not have anything to go on but your description.

Now that folks, is leadership at its finest and that is what voting for someone owned and operated by the UNION will get you.

Actually, that is negligent retention at its finest and negligent retention will get an agency sued.

Now why, I ask you, would any Sheriff not want his people to be in the best shape tha t they can be in?  Why would any Sheriff not hold his people responsible for their physical condition? That would be another good question to ask Mike Taylor. If anyone wants to ask him, here is the phone number (904-375-2642) and as always, please tell him Sun Tzu told you to call.

4. Mike Taylor will give pay raises across the board, regardless of performance rather than keep the current performance based raise plan.

SWEEEEEET! That means the deputy that looks like a slob, whose car is a pigsty (inside and out), who has numerous documented policy violations, who is constantly having his/her reports returned for correction, who can’t make it to work on time, and is just a walking talking nightmare in general, is going to get the same raise that the deputy that always looks sharp, whose care is kept in an immaculate condition, who does not have any policy violations, whose reports are always precise and complete, who is always to work on time and could be the poster person for a law enforcement advertisement.  Gotta love that UNION!

Why not fire that slack deputy you might ask. That one is simple too. The UNION will not permit it.

Hey top performers, how do you feel about that one? The deputy whose slack you are picking up because he/she is too lazy or too inept to function is going to get the same raise as you. All your hard work to rise above will be for naught.  If you help elect this UNION lackey that will become reality.     

There again folks, leadership at its finest. Now that will be a number one moral booster for sure.

Do not forget VOTERS, the UNION represents its members, not the citizens of Clay County. The UNION owns Mike Taylor and he will kowtow to their every whim. He will be responsible to the union because he OWES them. He will NOT be responsible to the citizens of Clay County.

No one owns Sheriff Beseler and he does not kowtow to anyone and unlike Mike Taylor; he is and will continue to be, responsible to the CITIZENS that elect him.
