I am so tired of Rick Beseler Ya'llIt is common knowledge in Jacksonville that Rick Beseler has always had an obsession with the media getting his name in the newspaper and his picture on tv. It just makes me sick! As I have started reading the blogs, I see the same old Rick. He could not take criticism, but boy could he dish it out. Staff Motto was always "Big Cases - Big Problems, Small Cases - Small Problems, No Cases - No Problems". Some Crime Fighter. And with the latest personal political attacks, I can't help but remember all of the stories that have floated around the office since the last election in Clay county. Stories of a SAO Chief Investigator that was called to the State Attorney's Office and held there standing at attention taking a tongue lashing for leaking information to a reporter for political gain and given the option of resignation or being fired. I have often wondered how you could work for someone for so many years and think they are just fine so long as you are still getting a pay check, but turn on them after you leave the office, or made to resign, whatever. I think a real reporter should stop by the State Attorney's Office and ask some questions, FOR THE RECORD you know. And, SunSue you sound like an older man that used to work at the SAO too. Gimme a break. You need to take up reading Danielle Steel it might mellow you out. You said you won't be working there anymore after the election and don't care. You poor man. You sound like they made you put up too many signs in the heat. Maybe you should drink some iced tea and sit in the shade for a while.

To Janesau: Is that the worst thing you can say about our sheriff? Darn, it looks like he may win by a landslide. Submitted by Angela on Thu, 08/07/2008 - 8:26am.
You have to love every minute of it! It's like rubber-neckers at car wreck scenes. I was hoping they would come back and tell us. The reason Beseler was running such a supposedly clean campaign was he knew the story was coming out. He was just waiting on it to hit the stands. Then they could tell us Beseler's statement, "Perception is Reality". You have to love politics! Submitted by MrPike on Thu, 08/07/2008 - 8:51am.
I am not trying to take away from your blog at all, or trying to discredit you. It is a pet peeve of mine... the contraction y'all stands for "you all" so it would go together like this "y'all" If you have read my blog you know I am Beseler supporter, but I don't have an knowledge on the items you speak. Have a good day!

Is it not the job of the Sheriff or the Chief Investigator to keep the citizens up to date on crimes? If he doesn't talk to the press then you would be saying he was hiding something. He just can't win with some of you. Janesao, are you an employee of the State Attorney's Office? Did you work with Rick? Just curious. I did work with Rick and never saw anything happen the way you have posted it. Submitted by Republicantruth1 on Thu, 08/07/2008 - 9:04am.
It is good to see that there is someone else out there willing to see and say the truth. “if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck chances are it is a duck.” This is a big political duck! Truth Hurts! Republican Truth is Hard but it’s True!

Why do you think Beseler is known as Hollywood Rick by the Federal Law Enforcement agencies in the area? He has always wanted the press and has stepped on other agencies to get it. Personal experience!!!! Submitted by MrPike on Thu, 08/07/2008 - 10:53am.
If trying to get press for solving crimes is Rick's biggest problem, I think we have a pretty good sheriff. This one is really at the bottom of the barrel. Submitted by Angela on Thu, 08/07/2008 - 11:02am.
Well if he likes the press so much. Then why when the guy in the murder case that got dropped. Beseler would not go on camera but sent a letter to Shorstein. Then he stated Shorstein could have called him on the phone instead of sending him a letter back. Didn't he do the same thing to Shorstein? Believe me I'm no supporter of Shorstein. But I do find that to be odd. Submitted by FolioFan on Thu, 08/07/2008 - 11:12am.
If you are familiar with UCR guidlines then you would know why the initial information report was reclassified as a crime and unfounded. That was the "reason" it was dropped. If you also remember the three sheriffs in the 4th judicial circuit all endorsed Angela Corey for State Attorney. Since then Sheriff Beseler and Sheriff Rutherford have had some open disputes with Mr. Shorstein. It is the responsibility of the Sheriff to keep the citizens informed and through the media is was way of doing it. Just reasons to complain. I say he has done his job and done it well. Maybe you should read the letter from Shorstein and he openly states he felt police misconduct occurred. He asked if Beseler would like to present the information to a grand jury. To my knowledge Beseler has not requested the matter be reviewed. However if he did he could clear up the entire matter. Submitted by vicedr on Thu, 08/07/2008 - 11:19pm.
I've only been reading and responding for a couple of days now, but already I've got it figured out who is a Beseler hater and who is a Taylor hater. I can figure out why so many hate Taylor, but I have seen or heard nothing that gives me reason to hate Beseler. I think with a new State Attorney Beseler will be fine. I don't see anything substantial in your blogs to convince me or anybody else here it seems to believe otherwise. I feel most here are intelligent people, but to just cut down with no viable reason just isn't right. I think semiredneck would even agree with me. Submitted by vicedr on Thu, 08/07/2008 - 11:25pm.
Must be a duck! I'd spot one anywhere. Funny thing is if his kid had been arrested he'd still cry it was political. No win for Beseler, just glad so many recognize it. Either way he'd get blamed. Now tell me again why was the hazing his fault? Somehow you guys even turn that on him. He can do a report and recommend arrest but I believe the authority to actually press charges is with the State Attorney, but I don't see you blaming him. You must be Taylor family! Just park that RV right down there in front of ya'lls yard signs now ya hear! Submitted by vicedr on Thu, 08/07/2008 - 11:28pm.
Maybe we don't realize it but this could be an ongoing problem Beseler is having with Shorstein not backing his cases. It sounds like a personal matter of Shorstein's. He sure hasn't seemed like a camera hog to me. Submitted by ProLEO on Thu, 08/07/2008 - 11:31pm.
Maybe if the cases were investigated properly they could be prosecuted Submitted by tsunami on Thu, 08/07/2008 - 11:34pm.
Great!!!! I feel alot of good will come out of this. Crime stats will go down if the new SA will put the hammer down!!! Submitted by vicedr on Thu, 08/07/2008 - 11:51pm.
All of a sudden there are about 10 people attacking Beseler with nothing more than blablabla. Time to go to bed. This is boring. Submitted by Angela on Fri, 08/08/2008 - 6:53am.
I don't know if there was party going on Angela's. I've heard the Sheriff support Angela Corey but I've never heard Angela support Beseler. I guess the Fl Sheriff Association walks in lock step just like the other unions. If you mean a party of mine. I've never said I was a Taylor support. I can understand the blah blah blah and just decided not to participate. People are talking about ...Here are the recent blog postings with the most comments. |
