PLEASE go back to the Clay and get rid of the sun! This new myclaysun is a sight for sore eyes. I much prefer the way it was before. Having the pictures of those who wrote the column doesn't always seem inviting, depending on the picture. I would think if you wanted this to lure other readers, you would class it up a bit. For instance, Jonathan Bennett: get a hair cut. Sandra Friend, is that the most unflattering picture you could find? I don't even want to read the articles. And then there is the one guy who looks like he's ready to deck somebody! See if you can figure out who I'm talking about! I'd suggest you place all the pictures at the top of the page, if you must have pictures of the writers at all, and then they wouldn't have to be repeated throughout the articles. I might be more interested in reading it without the distrations of all these repeated pictures.

Jonathan does a great job. Who cares about his hair? Submitted by justiceprevails on Sun, 03/18/2007 - 4:33pm.
Myclaysun appears to be a huge advertising adventure for the tu. Has anyone noticed that the actual amount of real news is limited, but advertising space is huge!!! Some articles appear to be advertisements without disclaimers.

I think the concept of the photos are great and to me far more interesting then words with no image to attach them to. I don't think there is anything classy about taking pot shots at peoples pictures, what they look like should have nothing to do with their contribution and I doubt there is one single person in the entire world who cannot or would not find something unappealing about them. It is my guess that there are people out there who don't believe the current Miss America is all that. You can't please all the people all the time. As an adult I have learned to look the other way or ignore something I don't find visually appealing. I also try to distinguish the difference between constructive criticism and insults. Lack of focus most of the time is a personal problem unless you're in the middle of a rock concert. Perhaps the pictures on the blogs are a little too large compared to the space, if they were reduced in size they could be less distracting, and it is also a far more appropriate suggestion.

I can assure you I haven't "decked" anyone since high school, and only raise my hands to write. The pen is a lot easier on the knuckles. Submitted by doc32 on Mon, 03/19/2007 - 7:38pm.
If it doesn't matter what the pictures look like, why is yours a "Glamour Shot"......... Go figure! Submitted by doc32 on Mon, 03/19/2007 - 7:40pm.
I'm sure you haven't! Why do you think I was talking about you?

You obviously lack anything truly constructive to contribute and prefer to take a lower road. While it is your right, I will just merely exercise mine to respond to you no more. That type of superficial pettiness is not what this forum is for. It is not a "Glamour Shot", it is merely a professional photograph done by a private photographer. While I am vain enough to want to put my best photo forward it certainly doesn't mean everyone does nor should they. When it comes to such trivial matters.....live and let live.

I am beginning to share doc32's comments on the new Sun. I noted the large number of advertisements on the second half of the page. Now as far as the photo issue, I will never place mine online. Quite frankly, I prefer to be anonymous, but of course, nothing is really anonymous when you enter it on a computer. Computer systems are hacked on a regular basis, and a name without a face seems to fit my style better. You have to realize that people who do not know you will make a judgment based on your photo. Unfortunately, people prefer to look at pretty people. How many times are people turned off by the looks of someone who might have become a life long friend? It's sad, but it's a fact. So, placing your face on a billboard puts your face in other peoples faces. I don't mind the "glamour shot." I had to laugh over the comment by a blogger that a staff member looks like they might want to "knock someone out." The staff member's reply was even funnier. Lighten up people. Vent on your important views, but don't take pot shots at each others photos. To wrap it is I will use a southern expression, "I was so ugly as a kid, that they had to tie a biscuit around my neck so the dog would play with me." I now own a cat as an adult. PS: We were too poor to waste a pork chop, but had plenty of biscuits. Submitted by doc32 on Wed, 03/21/2007 - 9:59pm.
Oh Marsha, Marsha, Marsha...... Yes, it is my right. I thought that Blogs were a way to express our views on something anonymously, so, I responded. And "thank you"..... for saying you won't resond to me anymore. "Live & let live." People are talking about ...Here are the recent blog postings with the most comments. |
