ROADTRIP!!!!!
It's time to put Clay County in the rearview for a little while and visit some old friends. It's just like going to Cooperstown. If you are a fan of baseball, then you have to take a trip to a spring training game. I'm not going to travel any great distance. Just a short jaunt down to Orlando to see the Braves play the Cardinals. I'm not a big fan of either team, but I am a big fan of the little guy that could, David Eckstein. The former University of Florida walk-on is one of the few reasons I still watch the game. He never leaves the field with a clean jersey and I actually bumped into him a few times on campus back in the 90s. He wasn't big-time then and he still isn't now. With two World Series rings and a World Series MVP award, he has cause to think he's a little better than the average Joe, but he doesn't. From the Disney Complex, I'll be traveling south to Vero Beach to hang out with a friend and experience the end of an era in Dodgertown. Yup, the Dodgers are pulling out of Vero Beach after decades of history have been made at the sleepy little seaside town that comes alive every spring when the West Coast team returns. Anybody else catching some Grapefruit League action this weekend? And, as always, Go Gators!!!
