Don't drink the water?
I've been in town for about five weeks now. I no longer notice how the water smells when I'm taking a shower or brushing my teeth, but I still hate the way tap water tastes. Kind of overly-mineralized and under-purified. Is there any reason for this? I know that you always notice how different the water tastes/smells when you visit a new area, but I can't imagine ever gladly drinking a big cup of tap water here. Oh yeah, and when I cook or clean dishes there always seems to be spots of white stuff (minerals?) on everything. Anybody know why? Or notice the same? Well I live downtown Jax, right next to the St. Johns on Riverside. I have to assume that we're on city water out there- but I think you're right, that's got to be calcium. I hope!

and it smells funny it is probally sulfur water. The best Koolaid is made with that egg smelly water. Alot of homes (older ones) have shallow sulfur wells. If you boil it and then cool it it will usually take the taste out. They also have big tanks to air it out before it comes into your house. The Green Cove Springs pool is a sulfur spring pool. On the hottest days of the year, this smelly water is so refreshing, a constant 78 degrees. It is also good for Psorisis, I try to go swimming down there a couple times of year to help with this ailment. I will put some pictures of the pool on one of my galleries. Why do you think the bottled water companies do so well here. People move here from places that have tasty water and it doesn't take long to figure out this water is a step above drinking swamp water

I know what you're talking about. The tap water tastes off but it's nothing like in St. Pete. Lots of reclaimed water in the sprinkler systems and such -- nothing like waking up to rotten egg smell on top of ocean breeze! And you definitely don't play in the sprinklers! Jonathan - the answer is: it depends on where you live. If you live in a house with a well, it could be you have sulphur in the water. Stinks bad to some folks! But, is very good for your blood once you get used to it although some never do. The white stuff on dishes could be calcium in which case a water softener will take care of it. :)
