What America has to fear from an Obama presidency

The following article appeared in the on-line issue of TownHall.com:

Why I'm Afraid of a President Barack Obama
Sandy Rios
Thursday, May 22, 2008

“What are you so afraid of?” a caller to my Chicago radio show asked. “Green” is a veteran with two sons serving in Iraq. He is adamantly against the war and adamantly for Barack Obama. Though we don’t agree on much, Green is the consummate gentlemen and his question is a good one. So I must respond.

If Barack Obama is elected President of the United States, I fear our enemies will smell the blood of weakness and rise in retaliation here and abroad. While Obama makes sweeping promises to end the war in Iraq, he never projects the consequences. Radical Islam is waging a holy war against us—and they have no intent on ending their war against the West. Withdrawal will be perceived as surrender and the election of a president sympathetic to their cause will embolden them like nothing else. Iraq will recede into bloody, sectarian retaliatory violence. Iran will take advantage and wield new power in the region. Our military families will have the sacrifice of their loved ones rendered meaninglessness. And our enemies will come here[editorial note: AGAIN!].

Israel will find itself alone. Europe and the British Isles, already too overrun with Islamists, will provide little defense. A future President Obama, championed by members of Hamas in Gaza, endorsed by one of their leaders—a dear friend to PLO sympathizer and Yasser Arafat apologist—Rashid Kalidi, will, I fear, not lift a finger to defend them. It is, after all, this same future president who has sat for 20 years (until recently without objection), listening to Dr. Jeremiah Wright praise Hamas and the famous Israel despiser, Louis Farrakhan.

I fear Iran will continue to develop nuclear weapons and breathlessly rush to the annihilation of Israel which will bring war to the Middle East. Iran will gladly make these weapons available to terrorist groups who will use them in the same way they currently show their contempt for life in smaller ways with suicide bombs. President Barack Obama will be powerless to stop this. He is a man full of words, but lacking in resolve … except on the following:

• He boasts a 100 percent voting record in opposing pre-born human life. The enthusiastic endorsement of NARAL’s Pro-Choice America gives a glimpse at his certainty. Barack Obama has given us little reason to believe that he has opposed abortion, at any time, for any reason.

• He was appalled that the Supreme Court in Carhardt vs. Gonzales upheld a ban on partial birth abortion (that last trimester method that pulls a baby from the womb, feet first, inserts scissors in the head, sucks out the brains and crushes the skull before removing its murdered body). He was outraged that a woman’s “right to choose” had been impeded.

• He is against parental consent and notification laws and favors what can only be called infanticide—continually opposing legislation that would require medical treatment and food for children born alive with disabilities after a failed abortion. I fear more brutality on the unborn and more erosion of the value of human life.

I fear universal healthcare, a system that will run like Cook County Hospital in Chicago where patients wait for hours, get lousy care and—if and when they are seen—they have little recourse for the way they are treated. Government healthcare puts you at the mercy of government: no alternative if medicines or procedures are denied and no recourse if doctors botch a surgery. I fear “equality” in a system like that—we will all get equally marginal care. Managed care and HMOs will look like heaven compared to this.

I fear the loss of free speech. I am concerned talk radio and independent news sources will be regulated to the point that they are effectively silenced. I fear more cases like that of Crystal Dixon, Associate Vice President for Human Resources at Toledo University, who was recently fired for writing a column as a private citizen, making the case as an African American that homosexuality cannot be equated to race in a civil rights debate. Barack Obama has been heralded by award-winning gay journalist, Andrew Sullivan, because he embraces expanded homosexual rights through ENDA and the punishment of those who would be “intolerant” to this lifestyle through hate crimes legislation. I fear those who oppose the homosexual moral and political agenda will be further punished. I fear his embrace of homosexual marriage and the consequences to children and society.

I fear the influence of radicals like William Ayres, formerly of the Weather Underground. I fear that, in addition to his desire to violently overthrow the United States Government, his endorsement of “Queering Elementary Education” will become more prevalent in public schools. I fear children will become further prey to the sex education agenda that exposes our kids too early and too often to materials at odds with the convictions of a great majority of Americans.

I fear racial vengeance. I don’t believe Barack Obama has sat at the feet of the hate-filled black racial bigot Jeremiah Wright without having sympathy for his poisonous diatribes. He may agree that white America deserves some sort of payback.

I fear economic collapse from a talented orator but inexperienced politician who does not love the free market, but socialism, who seeks justice and “fairness” that, translated, means taking from some and giving it to those he perceives deserve it more. I am concerned that the poor will be poorer and that “equality” will mean all will be poorer—regardless of effort or merit.

I fear the loss of our national identity thru the flood of more illegal immigration already championed by Obama, draining resources and creating further burden on the educational and healthcare systems.

I fear the distortion of the true meaning of following Christ. I fear soaring rhetoric that elevates man and promises a “kingdom right here on earth,” and, rather than acknowledging our depravity, seeks to accommodate it.

What is it I am afraid of if Barack Obama becomes President of the United States? All of this and more. Maybe the chickens really will soon come home to roost. But if they do under a President Obama, we won’t be able to say that we haven’t invited it upon ourselves.

A teacher  asked her 6th grade class how many of them were Obama Fans.

Not really knowing what an Obama fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for Little Johnny.

The teacher asked Little Johnny why he has decided to be different..

Little Johnny says, 'Because I'm not an Obama fan.'

The teacher says, 'Why aren't you an Obama fan?'

Johnny says, 'Because I'm a Republican.'

The teacher asks him why he's a Republican.

Little Johnny answered, 'Well, my mom's a Republican and my dad's a Republican, so I'm a Republican'

The teacher asks, 'If your Mom was a moron and your dad was an idiot, what would that make you?'

With a big smile, Little Johnny replies, 'That would make me an Obama fan'. Laughing

Interesting little series of articles on Foxnews.com this last 3 days on each candidate titled Truth or Tall Tales.  Today is the latest, on Obama.  The previous two days were Hillary and then John McCain.   Of course any news organization can find something where a candidate "mis-spoke" which seems to be the latest popular term.

It is not the "mis-speaking" that scares me about Obama, it is the clear facts of his inexperience coupled with his socialist peace-nik slant, not to mention he is plain and simply the most liberal Senator by any rating in years.  He makes slick Willy look like Principal of the Year.

God help us if he is sworn in next year - and for anybody who says he can't be any worse than George Bush, I hope you are right!!!

Obama

We have fifty seven states, I got confused on which button to push for a vote, and today while giving a speech in Miami about Cuba, he referred to this weekend as Independence Day. This guy scares the hell out of me.

I'm a self-confessed Republican - and proud of it most days.  I intend to vote for McCain unless he chooses Crist as VP.  I agree that Obama cannot hold a candle to McCain's experience, but I hardly believe the USA will implode if Obama becomes President.  We all know this election is going to be a barn burner, and likely full of heated rhetoric - like some of the stuff above.  I haven't checked in on Rush or Sean lately, so I don't know how hot their air is these days, but it is sure to get blast-furnace white-hot in the coming months.

One thing about it - there is not a whole in common between the 2 candidates, so it'll be easy to figure out which side to get on.

To tell the truth most of your comments make you sound as if you are racist. I don't care who the next President is nothing can be worst than Bush. Talking about mis speaking G.W. Bush Jr is the king of mis speaking. Check it out http://www.snopes.com/politics/bush/fetal.asp

All that posted the negative comments just because Obama is a black candidate need to expand your minds and realize your thought pattern is stuck in the 1900's. Judge a person on their action and not their skin color. Thank-you. If you are listen to Rush or Sean 24/7 it could make a black man a racist.........all I am asking you to do is think for yourself.........................If Obama was the President maybe the U.S. would not be stuck in Iraq with no plan of getting out. If Obama was the President maybe the U.S. would be trying to get Osama and not the oil rich Iraq come on open up your eyes. This is coming from a 24 year veteran.

Flip9;

I must have been missing something in the comments about Obama. This is a pretty died in the wool Republican county so statistically most of the comments would be coming from Republicans. With that said I would expect that most comments about a Democratic candidate would not be all that complimentary.

My question to you is, could you explain to me a little better your logic in how you reached the conclusion that people negatively commenting about Obama are racists.

A negative comment + Obama is black = a racist.

Does this same logic pertain to Hilary?

A negative comment + H Clinton is female = a chauvinist.

How about McCain?

A negative comment + McCain is ex military = anti military.

If Obama was the President maybe the U.S. would not be stuck in Iraq

If frogs had wings they wouldn't bump their butt every time they jumped either but I don't see that happening any time soon and it's not because their green.

Yes, b/c the Dems have such a good track record with war.  All of Europe had to be at their knees before W. Wilson would enter.  It took Pearl Harbor before Roosevelt woke up.  Kennedy and Johnson managed to sqaunder any chance in Vietnam.  The main reason for the attack in 01 is due to Clinton taking no stance on Terrorism having been attaced twice under his admin.  Now we have a guy who says we may not have been in Iraq if Obama had been President, probably true, we would have lobbed a few cruise missiles into Afganistan, called it a day and waited for the next attack, and no you're dreaming to think that we'd be after Osama.

You tell me to open my eyes, that it's not about skin color and i agree, we'd be better off if people could look past skin color.  But close your eyes, open them and blink, drop some clear eyes in and understand that Obama is a phony puppet with a socialist attitude.

As much as I am not really happy to have the choice to vote for McCain, if he chooses Crist as VP I will feel much better in pulling / marking that ballot.
Baxley think about it, we will be getting rid of him, and anyone has to be better than Crist. Why are all these Republicans turning into RINO’s?

What has Jr Bush did in his egiht years as the leader of the country? Jump at the chance to go to war with Iraq without a full understanding of the ramifications. His father knew inorder to have a favorable out come a coalition had to be form to achieve victory. JR Bush jump in head first and now he need a life savor. In the meantime good men and women are looosing their lives because of him. The next President will have to clean up the mess Bush leave behind. My first is Obama but I do like McCain. Obama would like to negotiate with our enemies before jumping at the first opportunity to declaring war the same way Senior Bush did. I ask all to look at the each candidate and not the party, vote for the candidate not the party.

Right, with G.H.W. Bush, our ally kuwait was attacked thus we went to their aide, damn, jumped right into that one.  We had absolute victory.  Then eight years of clinton.  First W.T.C. bombing........think we went with appeasement.  USS C. attacked...............think we went with appeasement.  Second W.T.C. attack, we invade afganistan.  The same problem country from 10 years prior won't hand over reports regarding weapons of mass destruction, within govt. walls who supported those who attacked us, tell me do you think S. Hussein was a good man.  We've just been attacked, Congress authorizes the use of force.  We didn't get out as quick and are still trying to.  Why? b/c we hit the world of terror in two countries which goes further than any past President.

Things that are good take time and sacrifice, things that are bad take no time and produce nothing.

Don't look at the party, why the hell not they produce the person and that person will always be remembered by his name and party.  Look at what the candidate must either live by or conform to.

This president has a set and for it he will be condemned.  I agree not everything was done right however to stand up to a bully and to expose him and all his friends takes guts/balls and not policy and diplomacy.  Look at anyone who ever took a stand on anything of any significance.

President Botha in South Africa- white afrikaner as white could be and he stated apartheid was wrong and we needed to have one man.one vote.  He is not hated by his party and fellow Afrikaners and is disliked and cast aside by the current ogvernment.  But guess what! he sleep at night knowing he did the right thing.

All the people that cry foul for IRAQ- if you were burying one of your closest people to you because a PLANE, for god';s sake, IT WAS A PLANE! killed one your family members would you prefer to have to stop them at the border crossign intot he US ot try to eradicate it where it is started.

Terrorists train four year olds to be in line with them.  You are not delaing with a civilized person when it is radical, there is no appeasing.  when someone says you need to be like me or we wil kill you how do you negotiate with that.  You don't- you appease people so they can gather their strenght again and keep coming after us.  These terroristsd will never stop, 911 was a wake up call to the western civilization that our way of life is totlelly opposite to a radicals and they will never change and there way is violence where they are willing to die- you cannto stop ap erson that is willing to die for what they believe.

The reason people do not stela is the fear of getting caught.  Once they fear is gone they will do it if they feel obligated ot pressured to do so.  They are dying for their cause and to have after life bliss- the notion is luldicrous however to a starving street kid that gets told it is the infidels that did this top you and you get indoctrinated ( while getting food/shelter/clothing and the garuntee your family will be looked after because you are now a martyr- what weould you do?  That's right- you strap on a bomb and walk into a crowd in any Western city and blow yourself up.

There is no negotiating with someone that is so out far there, they would be willing to strap a bomb on their back to kill innocent people, and Themselves.

If Iran got hold of nukes, they would not be used overtly at first. Iran would want deniability. The desire to have deniability will not stop them however from causing death and distruction to those they hate.

The nukes would be delivered in a low proflie, low tech fashion like in a suit case, van/truck, airplane, backpack. The delivery boys of the bombs will be a person or persons of no significance with no direct ties to Iran. These people are fanatical crazies, but not stupid.

It's my opinion that if Iran gets nukes, and that does not trouble you, you would be a very foolish person.

Remember Iraq had nothing to do with 911....Tell what has Iraq ever did ti the U.S.??? Nothing sure Sadam was a bad man, he was just one of many; North Korea, China, Russia, Iran, Cuba just to name a few countries that the U.S. think has bad leadership. But you do not see us going to war with them( Iran, maybe but not really). Before I close let me  this again Iraq had nithing to do with 911

How about he invaded a friend of the US, Kuwait and we had to go in and remove him.

How about he refused to comply with 17 United Nations resolutions to allow UN inspectors verify his nuclear and chemical weapons programs, diplomacy and sanctions failed.

How about he was using chemical weapons on his own people commiting genocide.

How about prior to 9/11 he offered sanctuary to Bin Laden to train his people inside Iraq.

How about prior to 9/11 top Iraq intel officials met with top leaders in Bin Ladens org.

How about all the Intel. from the US, and other top Intel orgs in the world pointed to the strong possibility he either had nukes or was very close to having them.

How about the majority of congress voted and gave the Bush Administration the go ahead to take Iraq, including H. Clinton.

How would you like to be fighting a war in Afgan. and have our troops be flanked by neighboring Iraq with a nuke or chemical weapon.

He needed to go, we needed to take him out, and congress gave their stamp of approval. Now he is gone and the people of Iraq have a good chance at freedom, and democracy. Once all is stable we have a new friend in the region.

Read "Saddam's Secrets," a book written by Iraqi Air Force Major General Georges Sada, a Christian Assyrian who was in Saddam's iinner circle.  On pages 258 through 261, he tells of how Saddam had the weapons of mass destruction loaded aboard Iraqi aircraft and flown to Syria before, during and after the American invasion of Iraq.  He describes the fifty-six sorties using commercial 747s and 727s rather than using military vehicles or aircraft.  The booked was published in 2006 by Integrity Publishers.  Needless to say, it did not fit the drive-by media's talking points about how Bush "lied" to the American people.

I'm not a big fan of the war in Iraq but asking a question like: Tell what has Iraq ever did ti the U.S.??? is like asking what did Hitler ever do the the US.

The real issue I have with this war in Iraq is that it should have been taken care of in 1991. The fact that it wasn't I blame on Colin Powell. He should have left his General hat on and left his politician hat at home.
