Senior Expo Celebrates 12th Year inJacksonville

 

            (JACKSONVILLE,FL) – Today’s seniors are leadinghealthier, more vigorous lives than ever before. And, as people add years totheir lives, they are actively seeking ways to add life to their years. That’swhat the Senior Expo experience is all about. At the City of Jacksonville’s12th Annual Senior Expo, the 50-plus set will see what’s new for today’s energeticseniors. The Senior Expo takes place Wednesday and Thursday, May 21 and 22(from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) at the Prime Osborn Convention Center (one-third milewest of downtown Jacksonville in the old train station). Admission and parkingis FREE!

 

            Jacksonville’slargest annual gathering of seniors, the Senior Expo is sponsored by the Cityof Jacksonville and BlueCross/BueShield of Florida. During two full days ofinformation and entertainment, attendees will learn how to make theirinvestments work for them, discover travel opportunities, gather informationabout health insurance and senior living options, and experience new recreationand fitness choices. They will also have the opportunity to take advantage of avariety of health testing and screenings, offered by qualified medicalpractitioners, as well as 10 free educational seminars.

 

            “Statisticstell us that 27% of Duval County’s year round population (more than 232,000people) is over the age of 50,” says Bill Anderson of Expo Marketing. “And,this group of people is actively looking to the future. Whether they arethinking about retirement or simply thinking about next year’s vacation, theyare making plans and looking to see what is available to them. They are eagerto learn and explore all the possibilities available.”

 

            Morethan 140 companies will be on hand, to present their products and services tothe over 12,000 people expected to attend the mid-week Senior Expo. Among theattractions at the Senior Expo are the hourly drawings for door prizes donatedby the participating companies. They will also enjoy two full days ofentertainment including music and dancing.
