REPLY TO CANCAN, I am sorry that blog appeared , and it had my name signed to it. The only thing I can say is I found out about it from a phone call. I did not write it nor have I expressed that to anyone. All I can say is I am sorry that it appeared and even more sorry it had my name on it. the thing I did write was the one where I said I thought your group were doing good things for the county. see you the next time around smile life is good Roy Lyons Related: Report Abuse | Rlyons's blog | login or register to post comments | printer friendly version

It shouldn't be that hard to figure out, computers have IP addresses much like a fingerprint, it it special and one of a kind. There were two entries posted by "Rlyons" five minutes apart. The first addressed the debate and the second was a response to a challenge made by someone over the Ravines more or less. There is no "play with letters" in that user name, whether or not two identical user names can exist would be another question for Jonathan that I hope he will answer.

Roy, I am not surprised that you are retracting your slanderous statements. I guess you got the CAN debate confused with your 2006 EAR PAC forum. During that "public" forum, members of the CRC held a forum at a public building, using public tv equipment, and aired over the public access cable channel, but no member of the public was allowed to ask questions or participate, and opposing views and participants were not allowed. Perhaps you were confusing these Chamber of Commerce sponsored rules with the CAN rules. No wonder an equal play field with opposing views is so hard for you to manage and causes you such angst!

There are programs out there that mask your ip, or in some instances make up an ip that is nowhere near to the real one the machine uses. IP's are not always who they say they are. I have software that will make my ip whatever I want it to be. It is used by companies who provide security on the internet.

Guys: Not to be a joy killer, but I don't know if I would post my IP on the internet. I know that some companies will print your ip out on your screen, but that is for your and their protection. I just pinged several of the IP's listed on the board, and I was able to get a response from every computer. Now, if there are some bad people out there who want to see what is on your computer, with some of the software available on the internet, they might be able to take control of your computer. Yes, I know some of you have firewalls, but, firewalls are breached daily. My computer was breached about 4 years ago, and it became a zombie for sending out SPAM. I wondered why it was running so slow. I ran diagnostics on it and found it was sending over 20,000 SPAM emails daily. I had to completely reload Windows and all the software. I was running Symantec Antivirus at the time, and a couple of bot programs to keep spyware off my computer. They did not cather the hijacker software. I had forgotten to shut the machine down one day, and it stayed online all day, was probed, and infected the next time I rebooted it. I compare it to that guy who advertises his social security number on radio and TV as an advertisement for his Life Lock service. It is a clear challenge to some of the low life of the internet to show that your computer, and credit history can be compromised. Many hackers today do not destroy data, they merely break into your system for the fun and thrill of it. The more protection you have, the more they become determined to compromise your computer.

Islander, I wasn't suggesting anyone post them. The statement was made that someone posted under an account, or what looked like their account who wasn't actually the person the account belonged to. A sort of blogging identity theft. The issue was not just what was said. A side issue of that statement was a possible lack of security to the site, something I think I can safely say everyone would be concerned with. I was merely offering a suggestion as to how it could be determined what was done where and by whom. http://24.23.126.8/Petition for choice in Nov. 7 Commissioners or 5.

I was thinking someone might post their ip just to prove who they were...something I would definitely not recommend. I like the new photo. You radiate happiness and serenity. Submitted by Republican on Sun, 05/11/2008 - 5:05pm.

Roy,
Roy, I cannot, nor will I dispute your comment that you did not write that post and that you are sorry it had your name on it.
I'm just hoping that you are not implying that it was somehow done by someone out here that is trying to sully your name.
Your screen name and password are unique so it had to be someone pretty close to you unless you routinely share that information with lots of people.
You probably need to change your password and have a talk with your close associates. Someone close to you did not do you any favors.
