Hello, I would like to say that I have not and will not make excuses, I have been in many debates and this format , which I knew about before ,is the hardest for me. There was no chance for rebuttel or closing remarks. The reason so many people are against 5/2 is money , what we in our group would like you and others to consider is better gov't. The added 2 CC would increase cost about 50 cents per year per registered voter, which is what I said. The 5 single member has been rejected by Clay county voters after it was implemented because it did not meet the needs of the people, that is the same reason st. johns county after only two  years of single member went back to  five at large, if you don't learn from your mistakes you are bound to repeat them. 74 % of charter counties in this state have a mixed CC because it fits best with the needs of county gov't . I also said this, can you imagine dividing the state into five sections and each section have their leader of the state for a year, which is the form of gov't the CTLAC is advocating for our county.

I knew going into the debate I was going before a group that was not really open to the ideas I would present, nor were they friendly to my past political activities. This was OK There were things we belived had to be said and I said them. I believe the CAN group should be congratulated for putting on the debate and I hope they continue to take an active part in the community, that is what makes our system work. As far as my opening remarks about my past, when speaking somewhere you are asked  to introduce yourself . I am sorry my past offends you, you would really be unhappy with what I am doing now. I am on the Y board trying very hard to bring a Y to the middleburg area and I sub at a local HS. So please have a ball with that OK. You are correct in saying that when you speak out on something you open youeself up, have you been reading the papers or the blogs I have taken lots of hits, but it really doesn't matter, the CTLAC is a samll group of people who are trying to control the politics of the county for no other reason then their own power. They have learned that if they put something on the ballot that requires a yes vote it will pass. We are trying to educate the people as to why they should vote no. just a side note Doug Conkey in his single member district race last time raised more money then either of the at large canidates have done so far.
