RUDE OP COUNCILMENJust read where the newest member of the OP Town Council was denied a courtesy ALWAYS extended to each other. That being a second and approval of his choice for a board appointment. Whether they like/dislike the person being appointed, this type conduct is unheard of for sitting councilmen welcoming a new member. VOTERS ALERT - Make a note of this and remember who did this at election time.

I'm with Mike, can you please elaborate or give us a link to whatever it was that you read?

Our elected officials count on us not remember stuff @ election time.

The citizen nominated had served previously and was well qualified. One of the newspapers mentioned it in their coverage of the council meeting. The new councilman had to nominate another person to the other four's satisfaction. I'll try to find the article. The term of the persons serving on town committees and boards coinsides with the term of the councilman. A new councilman always nominates the person to serve in their corresponding seat on these boards and committes and the council approves. It's a courtesy extended to each other. The rudeness comes with their action or lack of action. They expect that courtesy with their appointments but refuse to extend it someone else. A resident of the town tells me they were unhappy because their candidate did not get elected. Too bad - the electors decided who would serve!

Just because you are a new member you should be able to nominate someone to a board whether of not they are qualified and it should be automatically seconded and approved?
Were they being rude or was that it was so incredulous that the new member would nominate that individual that the Council decided to do what it should do and say no?
Perhaps you could supply more information here? I don't understand the point so far.
