I am new to this whole blogging deal. I've seen it lots of places, and have read about alot of issues that I had an opinion of one way or the other. Being a journalist at heart but not profession it has been difficult for me to turn away at times. I was excited when My Clay Sun provided the opportunity at a local level to chime in.
Here is my topic on my own little page. After reading so many of the different blogs the same thoughts keep running through my head. I guess tension and anger is just boiling over everywhere. The art of giving an opinion or an idea without someone taking a personal shot at someone on the other side of the fence appears all but gone. With regards to Ann Coulter, her political views aside I tend to not listen to mean mouthed people. I also don't understand why in a nation known as the great melting pot why stereotyping runs so rampant. There is a difference between a stereotype and statistical fact and I doubt that there are any statistics for negative comments about the residents in Clay County I've read here. I am also not to be pitied because I happen to like something as inconsequential as a tv show that someone else doesn't.
I don't think it takes alot of intellect or talent to be mean, rude, petty or spiteful, and it certainly doesn't make anybody superior. There was a time when there was some pride and integrity in choosing your words carefully. Just because we are in a free country where we can say anything we want it doesn't mean its ok to be nasty and offensive. Name calling, insults and cheap shots never made a good point any better, they can normally stand on their own. I hope this wonderfully new local interactive site doesn't become overwhelmed with alot of demeaning discourse.
