What's up with this? We've got Mexican, chicken and cobbler with ice cream. Now I'm hungry. It has got to be dinner time. Mike Heemer Submitted by SoloVoce on Fri, 04/04/2008 - 6:53pm.
I love blueberries. I just got a gift slice of blueberrie pound cake from my contractor's wife. I also just finished off a sausage pizza from Lou Malnatti's we had delivered from CHICAGO, my kind of town. The godess & I are going to try out the Blu Grotto over the weekend & the CUBS are actually starting to win. Can you feel the LOVE? Oh yeah, babe. JATFUR. RichK

The resturant report for March... a well "known" place had 32 violations and a bunch were critical. I went back to 2006 and they had over 30 violations back then. And guess what? in 2007 they had over 30 again...They were on the news last night, saying they had it all cleaned up and the violations weren't that bad...YUCK!!

A few years back I spent a four year tour on the midnight shift. It is interesting what you can see after business hours on an alarm call at a restaurant. Some of those kitchens of well known establishments will turn your stomach. Hey where can I get some good Mexican food and cold beer?

Magnum; See my response to Stryker under the blog Where Finder? Cantina Laredo! BTW you obviously never learned the one secret to good food. NEVER, EVER go in the kitchen. You just don't want to know. It can only ruin your day. Eat the food, enjoy the food but never watch them cook the food. This from my brother the chef. Mike Heemer

Hey Uncle Rich- I noticed in another thread you have an affinity for Woody's. I'm not knockin' Woody's, it's o.k., but have you tried Duke's? It's a mom and pop, not a chain. There are 2 locations, first in Lake Asbury and the newly opened second on 220 in the old Buzzy's Cafe/Leslie's spot. Mmmm-mmmm! I'm a dessert gal, and the pecan apple something or other pie is heaven. They don't have crowder peas (yet) but the blackeye's and greens and Brunswick stew are WONDERFUL! And the BBQ ain't bad either! :o) KC

It's the best Brunswick stew I have ever had. I can't even make it that good, and I think I'm a pretty good cook! (Course, mama would skin me alive for braggin' like that.) It has all the veggies and good meat flavor, but the secret ingredient....well, I don't guess I should be giving away Glenda's secrets, you'll have to try it for yourself, it's good eats! Too bad they don't offer it in one gallon serving sizes. I'll have to mention that next time.... ;o) KC People are talking about ...Here are the recent blog postings with the most comments. |
