Chairs used by pre-schoolers from Lighthouse Learning Center, an educational and therapeutic program for children ages 14 months to five years old with special developmental needs, were recently turned into works of art by the students of St. Johns Country Day School. Lighthouse is a division of Challenge Enterprises, the Clay County-based nonprofit that also provides training, employment and job placement programs for adults with disabilities.

The students replicated famous works by great artists on the chairs. The art represents pieces by Van Gogh, Matisse, Pollack, Picasso and Keith Haring, etc.

A silent auction, which will benefit Lighthouse Learning Center, will be held during a new event, “Art in the Plaza,” at Challenge Enterprises Plaza, 500 Kingsley Avenue, on March 30th, 3:00-5:00 PM. Artwork by other local artists will also be exhibited and available for sale and Pengrees Restaurant will have coffee, soft drinks and desserts for sale during the event.
