Police looking for man in assault

Police believe the man in this photograph may have pistol-whipped and robbed a 38-year-old man around 11 p.m. March 25.

According to a police report, the victim was standing outside his car that was parked in the 600 block of Wells Road talking on his cell phone when he was approached from behind by a man who put a semi-automatic hand gun to his head and demanded his wallet.

The victim asked, "What?" and the suspect struck him repeatedly in the head with the gun and demaned he lay on the ground. The victim told the suspect his wallet was in his back pocket and the suspect fled with it in a black SUV.

A witness described the suspect as a six-foot two-inch black meal with long dred locks. The man in the photograph was attempting to use the victim's credit card at a bank on Dunn Ave. in Jacksonville. Anyone with information should call the Orange Park Police Department at 264-5555.
