The Un Fair Tax

Bloggers! I mentioned in reply to another thread that I have decided to try to read the hodge podge of Boortz bologna regarding his latest lunatic embracement of the so called Fair Tax. I have skimmed a few pages. Most telling is the Q & A at the end of the book. It raises many red flags. I assume it was put at the end of the book working on the assumption that anyone reading it would be too bored to tears before finishing it. But, to be fair (haha) I will be attempting to fit it into my mountain of books on hand. The minor problem I have is there appears to be three books out now on the whole scam. So, I will be reading whatever the library has on hand. If anyone knowledgeable has a preference for one of the entities over another, please let me know.

I am sure there are some who have a passing interest in this and I am asking regular bloggers with measurable IQ numbers if they want to read along with me for a lively discussion at the end. Kind of an on line book club. Doesn't matter if you are pro or con but both would make it a more lively discussion. If no one is interested, so be it, but I will be posting a review at some time in the not to distant future.

Don’t waste your time or anyone else’s for that matter. It is painfully obvious that the only reason you are doing this is because you want to rip the book and concept apart after our disagreement. I think the highlighted areas below from your blog comments show you have no intention of reading this book with an open objective mind. Your going to read the book for everyone and tell us what the truth is. WOW that’s so nice of you. In your book club wouldn’t it be fair to have everyone interested read the book then open a dialog??

Your name calling, and assumptions, along with your little (haha) and remarks about measurable IQ speaks volumes. You have no intention on being fair. You already made up your mind (“the whole scam”) and are just going through an exercise in with a “GOTCHA” mentality. You are lost at sea on a ship of fools.

In my opinion you are very closed minded, and when anyone challenges anything you say , you get louder and louder like your big mouthed mouse avatar.

You will be happy to know that this will be the last time I respond to anything you blog, for I will not read one word of anything you have to say. I just simply will not waste my time. I suggest you do the same.

That’s just my opinion I could be wrong.

You will not read my posts and I'M the close minded one? You are so terrified of being outed in your incompetence you only highlight it.

If you did have reading comprehension skills you would have seen that I invited anyone who was interested to read along with me. I was also entertaining recommendations as to which of these books would be the most authoritative to use.

As for personal and demeaning remarks, you are no slouch in that department yourself. I think you should change your blog signature to Spitzer to underscore you hypocrisy. I don't shout and never have. Your lack of a sense of humor also makes you a complete bore on these pages. I never picked on your avatars, so why would you be so loathsome as to denigrate mine?

Finally, you are still a completely dishonest prson in the continued misappropriation of Dennis Miller's tag line in that you never credit the source. This is a contemptible thing to do.

TH

Lily has been talking about taxes since this site started, you would only have to go into her blogs to know this or have been here awhile.  I don't believe this is "all about you"  You were not the first person to bring up the fair tax, you were just the latest until today.

For someone who came here over the topic of CCAC and authored all that you did in the manner that you did you sure are quick to jump on people.

"Lost at sea on a ship of fools"?  You just demeaned anyone and everyone that doesn't agree with you.  This is not the place for expectations of complete agreement on all matters.  I don't care what you blog about there will always be someone who disagrees and that little line speaks volumes about the lack of mutual respect.  That brings to mind a few other sayings like "If you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen" "If you can't run with the big dogs you better stay on the porch"

Lily,

I am very interested in what your views are on this, I must admit that I have little interest in finding this book at the moment and reading it at least in the next couple of weeks due to my schedule.  There is no consistent stream of work in my profession and for the next couple of weeks I have a very full plate and there has been a death in my best friends family so I am doing what I can there as well.  To be very honest I am not even sure how much of that book I could even understand without help.

I look forward to your review installments and perhaps I can catch up on reading along at a later date.

Lily, can't wait for the fist update.  You resd the book, i'll continue to research www.fairtax.org, personally, i'd be bored to tears after reading any book except for "you might be a redneck" and "clifford the big red dog".  Although, i must say i'll be coming into the discussion with some preconcieved notions that the fair tax will not work, b/c frankly it's not fair.  However, it shall be nice to have a discussion on the topic.  I almost brought it up as a blog a few days ago, but i figured i didn't know enough about it to take a stand, so if you think you do, good for you!Smile

Tax PERIOD is unfair.  Unless, of course, you have enough money to pay your private CPA to 'hide' all of your money and get you enough deductions to pay little or no tax...

Taxes have to be paid to keep the government afloat (not so sure thats a word).  And if you have enough money to pay your cpa to hide all your money and get you enough deductions to pay little or no tax, then what's the difference, i really think we're talking about people who aren't millionaires.

I think he is talking about how the rich and big companies don't really have to pay a fair share of taxes since they can find all sorts of loop-holes. And companies don't really pay taxes at all since they just jack up the cost of their products or services to cover for that...passing along the cost to us poor folk who don't have all sorts of extra cash to pay that CPA to find little loop-holes that shield us from paying taxes.

Here's an idea, how about making the government a little smaller and start with NASA. How many trillions of dollars does it cost to launch the shuttle up to space? And for what? To see if corn will grow in ZERO gravity? That's helpful, I guess, for when Global Warming melts (or is it freezes) the Earth and we have to migrate to space in order to survive. Gee, I hope there's room on the shuttle for my Hummer.

Funny thing is, I saw a feature on 20/20 (I think) about taxes and happiness. Turns out that the happiest people in the world are the Danes who happen to pay the highest taxes in the world too. BUT, the kicker is, the garbage man gets paid the same salary as the government officials. This place was so 'happy' and care-free that people will leave their baby in the buggy outside the coffe shop while they ran in for a bite and a cup o' joe. WOW!!!

So, I guess if paying more taxes will make us all happier and safer, COUNT ME IN. Otherwise, keep the governments hooks outta my pockets!!Keep it real, Foxx! I love reading all your stuff.
