A charter bus carrying Clay High School's marching band, drill team and flag team was involved in an accident around 5:30 a.m. this morning in Elizabethtown, Ky. No one was injured.
The band, made up of approximately 100 students, is on its way to Chicago to perform in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The students, chaperones and Band Director left yesterday afternoon. They will perform tomorrow and will return on Monday.
"We are relieved that no students were hurt. We are also very happy to hear that the students are back on the road” said school principal Pete McCabe. “Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident… not even slightly.”
The school’s band director Winford Franklin, who is on the bus with the students, contacted McCabe immediately after the accident and reported that the driver of the charter bus was making his way to a restaurant when he veered off the side of the road and went down a very slight embankment.
