FOXX? NOT SO SLY...

What Mr. Foxx neglects to tell you is... the truth. Paul's "distributing of dope" was a single occasion when he was 12. I do think that he made a mistake when he was 12, hardly a reason to be discredited... I also remember a man who admitted to doing opium, his name was Winston Churchill, there were two others who admitted to marijuana, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. Even today president George Bush did cocaine! Yet one time when Paul was twelve is unacceptable? Another thing Mr. Foxx forgets is, when Paul made the "false allegations" against the pastor of Black Creek Baptist, he not only agreed with Paul but left the church with Paul to become the music director of the church Paul preaches at today, only to get his feelings hurt and leave after several hungover mornings leading the music. He also neglects to tell you that the youth group at Black Creek grew from around 4 kids to about 80 while Paul was the leader. Furthermore, Paul was not forced out, he was asked to leave with pay through the end of the year by the "Witch hunters". I personally think that a violation of the bylaws of the church is just cause to call the pastor out. And just to further elaborate on Mr. Foxx's misleading comments, Paul started the church he is pastoring at now 15 months ago, they began with about 8 people and it has grown to about 80 members including several influential families in the community. I'm not saying that Paul is or is not the man for the job... I merely want people to have the facts straight.

 I personally know Mr. Abernathy and I find him to be a wonderful, honest gentleman.  Statements made in  this forum should never be aimed at someone to hurt them.  They should be made to make revelations of truth.  FOXX has put himself into the category of "can't rely on him for the truth".  Perhaps his motivations were political rather than just plain informative.

  I will be accused of having political motivations.  NOT !  I am a candidate for Sheriff and would want the public to point out my strengths and weaknesses without trying to harm me, my family or my reputation.  I can take constructive criticism and make adjustments to my life.  I tend to reject those things that are aimed at me that are being used to bring harm. FOXX owes Mr. Abernathy, my political opponent an apology for intentionally distorting the truth and trying to harm the man's reputation, his service to the community and his family.

OK< what missive did I miss that warranted getting deleted? That hasn't happened in a while.

Karen, thank you for wanting to keep us updated on the new project. Bax, too, I'm sure will be providing needed insight.

I believe 2 or 3 missives have been bleeped today. It is the policy of MCS not to allow personal attacks , and management may remove comments for any reason or no reason. True, we see them often, and are so used to viciousness and character assassination we hardly notice anymore.

BraveHeart;

It is nice to know that there are still people with the ethics, morals and integrity to stand up and say this is wrong and I will not stand by and watch it happen.

Thank you for speaking up and good luck in your campaign.

Very well, my apologizes for my statement a few pages ago.  Let me say it more clearly so it dosen't sound phony, i'm sorry for aiming a blog to personally hurt someone.  I spent one year as music director and i was never hungover, wonderful statement that was.  In that one year, i changed my opinion of a man who i had known so long, i didn't leave b/c i got my feelings hurt, i left on the basis of communication with the underlying reason being that i no longer felt able to serve with a man who i now disagreed with so much on past dealings with another church.  This may not mean too much but i wish abernathy the best in his endeavor, it's an uphill battle, but with the right help anything is possible.

You're 19. You used to work with him in a Church. You were music director for a year. You disagreed with him. You left that Church because of a communication problem. You didn't like the way he dealt with another Church in the past.

So, you a person that apparently professes to be a Christian launch a scurrilous attack on the man in the hopes of turning everyone against him in his endeavor to become Sheriff.

After being called out for your statements you come on the blog site where you launched that attack to apologize to us.

Everything OK here so far? Have I left anything out or added something that shouldn't be there?

One of the things I learned over the years is that actions speak louder than words.

Apologizing here in the blog for subjecting us to that diatribe is a good start.

Now might be a good time to finish the job correctly. I think a man that was truly sorry for the hateful things he said would step up and apologize to Paul face to face. But that is a personal decision that only you can make.

In my opinion it would help you to understand that humility is a good thing and that you would be a better person for having done so.

I dont know Mr. Abernathy or the other candidates for Sheriff.  But, I do know we already have a Sheriff with no real police experience.  Mr  Abernathy may be a great man, a great preacher and maybe even a great electrician.  But, that is not the resume we need in a Sheriff.

CCG, thanks for washing away some of the personal and political mud being thrown Mr. Abernathy's way and revealing some truth.

Mr. Newman, also thank you for showing that a candidate for office in Clay County has the moral fiber to actually come to an opponent's defense in the face of such nasty, personal attacks.  Nice to know not everyone subscribes to the "throw mud and duck" campaign strategy that seems to engulf the sheriff's race.

Finder, I doubt the arrogance of youth would allow Foxx to offer a personal apology to the person he maligned.  That apology he offered sounded like the ones you'd hear from a pre-teen caught doing something and forced by his mommy to say he was sorry.  "Very well ..."  Maybe whatever church he's now involved with will teach him The Golden Rule so he won't have to offer any more of his petulant apologies.

Slueth;

You very well could be correct in your assessment of the current Sheriff's and Mr. Abernathy's lack of experience.

I do not see any endorsement of anyone in this thread. It was and still is a discourse on the statements made by Foxx denigrating Mr. Abernathy's character.

Mr. Newman had the integrity and moral character to come to the defense of Mr. Abernathy. Though they are opponents for the office he did the right thing. Telling him we think highly of those actions is also the right thing to do.

OneMann;

I'm sure you are correct. In another post I told Foxx that I would try not to insult him by talking down to him due to a lack of life experience.  He's making it kind of tough but I'll do my best to stick to that.

Perhaps this will turn into a meaningful learning experience for him. I hope so. I know I've certainly had a few that were a lot more painful than looking a man in the eye and asking forgiveness for a wrong that I did to him.

Finder,

I was not trying to change the path of this blog thread, but Bravehard went down the personal praise for Mr. Abernathy road as a good man.  He may well be a good man, as I said.  But, Bravehart also said blogs should reveal the truth.  The truth is I don't think an electrician is qualified to be a Sheriff.

Lastly, I am glad to see Braveharts change of heart.  It wasn't too long ago that he made some terrible personal attacks against another Sheriff's candidate.  I clicked his screen name and was able to pull it up to make sure it was the same person.  I do not know his current motivation for coming to Mr. Abernathy's defence, but I am glad that he did.  Mr. Abernathy does not deserve any personal attacks. I think qualifications speak for themselves.  I also think Braveharts character speaks for itself after reading his blogs.

Slueth;

The truth is that you have tried twice to change this into a comment on qualifications for a Sheriff.

Whether either one is qualified is a personal opinion held by each individual. The thread of this blog was to debunk a personal attack on Mr. Abernathy and to let Mr. Newman know that some thought that he did the right thing to come out and speak from personal knowledge of the integrity of Mr. Abernathy even though they were opponents in a campaign for Sheriff.

Spin it however you like. That is your prerogative.

Finder, Absolutely correct.  This blog was meant to "debunk" a personal attack on my part directed at mr. abernathy.  I apologized here on the blogs and i've also apologized personally.  It was a mistake on my part and i vow not to make anymore personal attacks, only to make factual entire truthful statements or opinions not directed to hurt someone.

Sleuth, This is no directed to offend you, but finder was correct and it would be appreciated if at least on his thread we could stay on topic, there will be plenty more blogs on the topic of the sheriff race and it would be better if you made you comments there. I made the original mistake, if i could take it back i would.  Apologizes were made here and personally and it would great, however, not up to me if we could move on.

Foxx;

For what it's worth, I think the appology to Mr. Abernathy was a good thing.

So we move on from here.
