Art Community Happenings

There are lots of wonderful "happenings" in the arts community of Orange Park.  Art Guild member Beth Haizlip has been selected as the poster artist for the 2007 Jacksonville Jazz Festival.  Her poster "Jazz' Down the River" was unveiled by the Mayor at a special reception in City Hall.  The Art Guild membership is very proud of Beth's many accomplishments!!!

There is a delightful exhibit of drawings being presented in the Fleming Island Library by 4th graders from Grove Park Elementary School.  The students were challenged to create an image that reflected on the history of Orange Park.  I was honored to assist in the selection of prize winners of this event.  The annual program is sponsored by the Women's Club of Orange Park.

Lots of our member artists will be participating in the First Wednesday Artwalk in  Jacksonville on March 7th from 5-9pm.  This is a terrific event featuring many local artists, food and music.  Members Lynette Woodman, Rita Blum, Sonja Cox, Louise Cruz and Desiree Kantrim will be showing their artwork in the Art Center Gallery.  Members Toni Charneco, Waneta Araneo, Pauline Dickson and I will be exhibiting our collages in the new Jacksonville Library.  All events are free and maps are available at 100 Laura St.  Come and join the fun!!!

Remember Art is a necessary ingredient in everyday life!!!!
