Consumer Fraud Alert
Hi All, I wanted to make those of you who may bank with Bank Of America that it appears a scam is underway to raid your accounts. I have not had an account with BOA in almost eight years yet I received an e-mail this morning wanting all kinds of personal account information. According to the e-mail return address, it is coming out of Germany. Here is the body of the e-mail. You can click on the link to see what they are asking for. I find it telling that as a bank holiday to day, this e-mail should arrive when one can not call the bank itself.
Update your Online Banking Because of the upgrading of our systems that we are doing today, some accounts are affected, we had to believe that, Thank you. Please pass this information on to any of your family members who may be a recipient of this scam.

Don't click on that link or any other when getting something that looks suspicious. That's all it takes for them to gain access to your computer. People are talking about ...Here are the recent blog postings with the most comments. |

Lily I've been getting them as well with varying reasons for me to hit on that link. It's also happening again with aol. The ones trying to scam me through pay pal have taken a break.
At least the emails from foreigners with names I cannot pronounce have stopped emailing me telling me they've got a fortune just waiting for me either from a long lost relative or just that I am in the only one in the world they sought to help them with assisting in the release of their own fortunes.
I'm loaded with identity theft insurance but that does not save you the long and difficult struggle to straighten it all out if it happens.
There is a company out there that will guarantee the safety of your identity or pay any costs if it does happen up to 1 million. I can't recall the name but the owner freely gives out his SSN over the radio waves, internet and tv as a testimonial.
I find things like this have loopholes in the fine print that don't protect you in the end. It's like the termite bond I carried on my other home since it was built till a couple years ago. A termite bond with this company was for one specific type of termite and offered nothing for the other types. It creates a false sense of security so when I ended up with 10K in termite damage I cancelled the bond and went to an individual that honestly treats and looks for all termites. Anyone out there who uses Florida Pest Control needs to look at the fine print if you, like me back in 1994 didn't read it and made the stupid assumption that a Termite Bond is all inclusive.
