Procedures on MyClaySun.com

Good morning, all-

We have spent a considerable amount of time discussing how things are progressing here on MyClaySun.com, and I want to let you know what we have decided.

There seem to be two main issues interrupting the normally constructive tone. One is the issue of one person with multiple screen names, and the other is users who have joined the site and aired their grievances without otherwise contributing in a positive manner.

This is how we will begin to approach these issues. One person with multiple screen names on MyClaySun.com is not prohibited by the terms of service. However, you are required to enter and maintain accurate personal information when you create a screen name, and starting today, we will be monitoring the accounts of users on the site whom we feel might have violated the following portion of the Terms of Service [0]:

"You must provide and maintain accurate personal information in your account record."

We believe this will solve two problems. One is the tendency for people to create false accounts using false information and using the blogs as a sounding board for personal vendettas. And since each screen name requires accurate and unique information, enforcing this term should hinder the tendency to create multiple accounts.

We believe the strength of MyClaySun.com is in it's ability to bring residents together, and to provide a safe and constructive venue for discussion.

If you find it necessary to change your personal information, you can click "Edit profile" in the top menu. Once there, click "Personal contact information" to update your information. Once finished, click "Submit" at the bottom of the page to make those changes permanent. E-mail me at jonathan.bennett@jacksonville.com for further help with changing your personal information. We will not share your personal information with anybody else. There is also this tutorial [0].

We will give everybody several days to make sure their information is correct before we take further action.

Also, I have removed the blog "Clay Co BBC forgets it's own personnel policies" because it blatantly violated the terms of service. Removing content from MyClaySun.com is always difficult, because the line between harassment and poignant criticism often depends on which side of the issue you agree. However, that Clay Co BBC blog degraded into personal name calling, which will always lead to removal.

With all of that said, the vast majority of users and blogs are constructive and exactly of the sort we like to see. Thanks to all of you who have helped make MyClaySun.com the truly interactive site it is and I hope this begins to solve the problem.

Please comment on this blog and consider it an open Q&A. You ask me questions about the site (I'm pretty good at world history, too), and I'll do my best to answer.
