I would like to embellish on the update that Karen gave us yesterday on the Hometown Democracy Petition. My source of information is from the Florida Association of Realtors daily "Early Bird News" which wasn't so early on a humorous note. Overall it agreed with Karens figures of how many it takes, how many they have, how many they've lost if you round them all up a tad.
What was not in the update that is the press release I read is that Lesley Blackner says she has submitted apx 100,000 signatures beyond the minimum requirement. The article essentially quotes her saying she doesn't have any faith in the system and "I don't know that I trust these numbers.
Four different signature verification programs that are conflicting with the States is the alledged issue.
Has there never been any signature verifying in the State of Florida before?
How convenient for there to be computer glitches to keep this off the ballot if it ends up there is indeed enough verified signatures.
Tune in the theme song to the Twilight Zone, or Jaws whichever you prefer into your inner ear and ponder this. Perhaps this complexity in our signature verification system is akin to the hanging chad.
"Dear Governor Crist, After fixing your glitch please schedule a special vote so that the people may be heard if the signatures are there."
I wish I could think of something humorous to add here as well but it's escaping me at the moment.
I just thought it was important to include in the update the fact that Lesley Blackner says she submitted more then enough.
