LAST CALL TO SUPPORT FLORIDA HOMETOWN DEMOCRACY PETITION DRIVE

If you have not yet signed a petition, please do so at www.Floridahometowndemocracy.com.  You only have a few more days to get in to FHTD.  This petition is needed to get it on the ballot.

The document proposes to amend the Florida Constitution by requiring a REFERENDA to amend a local Government Comprehensive and Land Use Plan.  It transfers the power to amend from elected officials to the voters.

According to Lesley G. Blackner, Esq., and Ross S. Burnaman, Esq., co-founders of FHTD, both the Florida Supreme and US Supreme Courts have ruled that voters may have the final say on proposed land use changes within their communities.  Its up to the voters to seize the opportunity given to them by these court decisons.

If you look at frequently asked questions (FAQ) of when will elections be held, it will not require special elections, rather at next regularly scheduled local election.  If applicant requesting an amendment wants a special election, it would be at their expense.

The voters have an opportunity to determine Florida's Land Use Plan decisisions.  Voters will then be able to better control what changes are acceptable in their hometowns.  Take advantage of it!

Thanks for providing the link that will make supporting this incredibly important amendment so easy.  Two clicks, print, sign and mail.

I urge everyone who has not signed up to put this issue on the ballot hurries to do so before the deadline.

Hometown Democracy Amendment is the people's chance to really have a say in how their part of Florida heads into the future.

Pioneer I certainly support it and have passed out more petitions then I can report on but I learned about it here from Alabayea.  As long as we're passing out kudos lets give one to the Times Union for creating My Clay Sun, it has certainly expanded my horizon.

Everyone out there who thinks one person can't make a difference needs to print out that petition, sign it, pass it around and a difference has been made.
