Bloggers, I am in receipt of a request to not cut and paste the entirety of Dave's columns from New Hampshire. I am allowed to post th elinks which I will continue to do. I did not know this was copywritten material and will be sending my apologies to Judi Smith. Jere is her request. lilyslore: I don't know how else to contact you about this since you're not accepting emails. I'm Dave's assistant. It's flattering that you like Dave's work enough to cut and paste it into your blog, but it's copyrighted work and being sold by TMS. Will you please delete the columns from your blog and use links instead? Lily, Ditto here. Love reading them. Hope you didn't get into too much trouble. I'm no copyright lawyer, but rule of thumb is that if it appears in any kind of publication, chances are that it's protected by copyright & you must get permission. I think it was nice of Ms. smith to handle this in the manner she did. There are a number of people who would have a lawyer send a law suit with no warning. Glad you got the white marble on this one. Yes, Rich, You are absolutely right. I am no copywrite attorney either and had no clue that there is a difference between posting a link and copying the whole article. I still don't understand it. However, I have had interaction with Judi Smith on previous occasions and she is an absolutley wonderful person who is Dave Barry's right arm in all he does. She is extremely pleasant and unbelievably helpful. I have already sent my apologies and I expect this to be the end. As I told her, I would never want to cause any harm to Dave Barry in any way. I suspect she will be as forgiving as she is wonderful. Just when people come on the blogs and say that only a limited amount of people see what we blog about. As it is said, preaching to the choir. Well, I guess this clears that matter up. You never know who is reading what we are blogging about on MCS. I don't think Dave or his assistant wants to punish his avid supporters, just letting us know the rules.
