Mystery celebrity resolved

Good morning, Allstars

I know all of you (but mostly you, smunsey) have been dying to know which celebrity I saw on I-95 this weekend. Well here he is, in all of his glory.

Yes, my friends, that's Thomas the Train. Not what you were expecting, I know. It's even more awesome.

I think they went a little far with the black bag to hide his face, there aren't many other 30ft. long blue and red trains in the world.

You never know what you'll find on the back of a semi on 95. I'm so glad I had my camera

What I thought was funny.... on the Thomas Train show Mr. Conductor is played by George Carlin...  My son is 14 & LOVED Thomas Train when he was little...I had no idea who GC was back then until one night my husband was watching his stand up routine on late night & all of a sudden it dawned on me he was Mr. Conductor!!!  WOW- what a shocker to see his stand up routine & realize he was on a childrens show! Smile

My 5 year would be very disappointed in me.  How did I miss that one?  I was thinking some old school Nascar Guy......thanks Jonathan, I can sleep at night now.... :)

George Carlin? I had no idea.

I have to admit though, of all the childhood books, I only really remember the ones written by Chris Van Allsburg (of Polar Express fame). The Garden of Abdul Gasazi was incredible.

Jonathan, you completely blindsided me on that one. I was convinced it had something to do with NASCAR.

The "Mr. Conductor" I remember from when my kids were little was Ringo Starr, who held that role before George Carlin. The full lineup is:

Ringo Starr (1984–86)
Michael Angelis (1991– (UK series))
George Carlin (1991–98 (U.S. series))
Alec Baldwin (1998–2003 (U.S. series))
Michael Brandon (2004– (U.S. series))

Steve, you truly are a repository for all things amazing. I now know you expertise runs through at least three areas:

1- Drupal      2- Media theory  3-  Thomas the Train conductors

And yeah, Alec Baldwin? Jeez, but here he is:
