INVESTIGATIONSAngela, I certainly hope someone will start the ball rolling for an investigation. There are stories of so many things going on at all levels of government. For example, a hot topic in Orange Park involves claims that personal items of Town Manager are being stored at the Clark House. Citizens complain the entire second story is full of items he purchases at yard/estate sales. If this is correct, why does he get to use property owned by the Town of Orange Park? He does not even live in the Orange Park corporate limits. Did the Orange Park Town Council give him permission to use public property to store his personal items? I doubt any citizen would be able to store personal items on any government-owned property. Do any of you know anything about this? You are correct. The bottom line is elected officials are responsible. The OP Town Manager works for the OP Town Council. The OP Town Council has 1 member running for CC Commisioner and the town attornwey for Chair of CC Commission. If they allow this to take place in the Town, makes you wonder what they would allow at the county level. Submitted by Angela on Sat, 12/29/2007 - 11:15am.
Alabayea place of residence was the discussion of Bowles in Green Cove Springs too. http://www.jacksonville.com/tu-online/stories/070307/met_181745832.shtml Those who are elected and those that want to be elected will only be able to do what we the voters will accept from these individuals. I hope the people who read these blogs will get out and help keep some of these individuals who will give us a better government in Clay County. A Chairman of Clay County elected by default is sad for our County. Just goes to show how useless that position is to begin with.

Maybe I read things too literally but I don't understand the problem FDLE had in establishing where Bowles lived. The Homestead Exemption states: $25,000 HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION: Section 196.031, F.S. My feeble mind says that means your residence is where you claim your exemption. Am I missing something here? 5 Commissioners can't do anything about it? We don't have him under contract but we're going to put him under one? They can't do anything to define residency? What the heck is wrong with using the definition above? Brother John Bowles became OP Town Manager in 1989 without a contract and still does not have one. Charter says he will reside in town unless council grants permission to live outside town. The 1989 Councl granted that permission. Permission should have been granted/denied whenever a new council is seated because one council cannot bind another. Has that ever been done? Haven't heard of it. People are talking about ...Here are the recent blog postings with the most comments. |

Alabayea I have heard the talk too. This is why we are underserved by the State Attorney's Office. I think the State Attorney's Office is the single source of the problems we have and have had in our County. Their lack of response to the citizens who report information.
They refuse to investigate any of the concerns of the citizens. You need to keep asking questions and putting together information. You just keep going up the chain until you get someone to listen.
This is what good about the blogs with enough information put out here, we can get to the bottom of what the truth is about anything.
