RICK BESELER Vs MIKE TAYLOR

I'm somewhat distressed that this Blog site has been reduced to a forum for free political advertisement.  I'm referencing MAGNUMFORCE's comment to vote for Mike taylor.  OK, you opened the door.  Mike Taylor's resume reads like Sheriff Beseler's.  He was a Deputy Sheriff and then several years as an investigator. This in no way qualifies him as a manager of people, nor having the ability to handle a multi million dollar budget.  He was nothing but a low level supervisor with FDLE.  He often represents himself as holding high level management position.  Read his qualifications closely.  He was never a Special Agent in Charge (SAC) or Assistant SAC.  He has also experienced several internal family problems that have impacted the sports of a local school.  Do you really want him as your Sheriff?  Look at all candidates and look for who is best qualified to run the daily business of the Sheriff's Office and who will have the most positive impact on the employees and the residents of Clay County.

Braveheart,

You might better read my comments again.  There is no endorsement of any candidate.  Get your facts correct.

Spot,

Yes I have looked at Taylor’s resume and there are two dozen of us that have more experience and education.  Your next question probably will be why we aren’t running for Sheriff.  We are not interested and want to have a life after work.

I knew the comments would be mixed from this group of bloggers.  For many years I have explained to deputies that the general public is only concerned with response times, crime solvability, and the agency is not corrupt.  As for employer and employee relations and benefits they could care less.  For the most part I believe I am right on target.  Regardless of the relationship employees may have with the employer the men and women that wear that green uniform are going to be professional.  About 20 years ago I had the opportunity to work at the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.  I tuned the job down because in my heart I wanted to work in the community that I have lived all of my life.  I look back now and I would not have changed that decision for any amount of money.  Yes had I gone to the JSO I probably would be making 20-25K more a year now.  It’s not always about the money.  Most of these guys live beyond their means and that’s why they are grumbling all the time about money.  No matter the amount of raise they get it will only satisfy them temporarily and then they will be complaining about something else, and it will be something else.

Thanks Magnum, you got there before I did about you not endorsing anyone. I alwasys thought this sight was for expressing opinions on nearly any subject.

Let's see, we have Insider who wants us to believe that he only wants what's best for the CCSO by union standards. We have SPOT that want Taylor in because Beseler won't charge CCAC with a crime. We have BRAVEHEART who says Taylor is a bad choice and implies that Beseler is a better choice but doesn't like it that this sight is being used as a free political advertisement.

Is that about it? Sounds like a good exchange of information to me.

I am a law enforcement professional that has worked with Mike Taylor.  I find it particularly humorous that you reference Mike Taylor's experience being no better for Sheriff than Rick Beseler's and that is what does not qualify him for the office.  Did you read what you wrote?  Are you saying Rick Beseler is therefor not qualified for the position?

Next, you say Mike Taylor was not a Special Agent in Charge or Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the FDLE.  Mike turned down the opportunity for promotion to Assistant Special Agent in Charge 4 times to stay in this area.

In fact, Mike did run the administrative functions of the FDLE Jacksonville Region, including new hires, special projects and homeland security funding.  FDLE has 2 Assistant Special Agents in Charge in several regions.  Mike was a working ASAC in the Jacksonville Region carrying the title of Special Agent Supervisor.

Mike worked with the Police Chiefs and Sheriff's in northeast Florida on a regular basis coordinating homeland security funding and projects and law enforcement mutual aid.  In fact, during mutual aid activations, Mike was placed in charge of the state law enforcement response coordinating state law enforcement officers as well as Deputies and Police Officers sent through mutual aid agreements.

In fact, Mike was sent to Mississippi to coordinate the state law enforcement response (because the Federal Government could not do it) to restore order and stability to the state following hurricane Katrina.  He is a good guy and obviously well qualified.  Not a first line supervisor type.  In my dealings with FDLE, I have learned a Special Agent Supervisor is everything from a first line supervisor to a senior administrator making their own decisions on behalf of the state.  I guess that is why Mike has the support of so many qualified senior law enforcement officials in this region.

Obviously I am a Mike Taylor supporter and a professional law enforcement officer.  If you wish to support Rick, do so with pride.  But, I do encourage you to make sure of your facts.

Last, I would not go after his family.  Be careful here.  Rick and his command staff have their own problems with their children and step-children.  Leave the kids out of this and remain professional.

A while back Braveheart posted a comment on MCS there were other candidates in the Sheriff’s race that have good resumes that deserved a review.  I have tried to research the blog and find his posting but I am unable to locate it.  He put the bait out but no one responded to his posting.  I guess he is the one with the agenda of trying to get endorsements.  Sounds like he may be one of the challengers and got his feelings hurt that no one has mentioned his name on any of the MCS blogs.

Lonewolf,

You’re absolutely correct about leaving the kids out of the politics. You can be one of the best parents and have teenagers act up when you’re not around. Teenagers go brain dead sometimes and use bad judgment. This is one of the old dirty tactics of Clay County politics is to spread rumors and attack family members. If you want problems mess with a mans children or his animals and it’s on.

Magnum

I remember the post you are referencing. Candidate Braveheart was also a prominent frequent poster on another local blog site noted for mud slinging.

Are you saying Rick Beseler is therefore not qualified for the position?

Sounds like that is exactly what BRAVEHEART said. Not sure just how that circular logic works but I'm sure there must be a point there someplace.

I can't say I'm big Beseler advocate, or anyone else for that matter. I'm still doing my homework there. You are very correct about the children. The only thing they have to do with anything is if whatever they did was swept under the rug because of who Daddy is.

I would hope that is what alluding to and not making a personal attack on the family. Somehow it didn't sound like that, but I chose to give him the benefit of the doubt. Certainly, no one would be foolish enough to actack them on purpose.

Janie;

Your point is?

Are you a co-worker of insider, braveheart et al, did someone smash your cupcake and change your shift or was it just a porly done video that you want us to see?

Nope I love my new assignment, new shift, and new schedule. It takes the real hazard out of the pay I continue to get. Sorry I don't know anyone named insider, braveheart, or et al. But I love my new assignment.

This video was just too funny. I guess this must be a vote for Beseler. Another happy customer in Clay County.
