Hospital update

After further investigation, it appears that an administrative law judge's decision that St. Vincent's Hospital could build a hopsital in Middleburg is premature.
Both Michael Mayo, chief executive officer of Orange Park Medical Center, and a spokeswoman for the state agency involved in the case said the judge's decision is not final.
Shelisha Durden of the Agency for Health Care Administration said that agency will decide who builds a hopsital in Clay County and that no decision has been made.
St. Vincent's issued a press release Tuesday based on the judge's decision of Monday, proclaiming its right to build a hospital in Clay County.
Orange Park, St. Vincent's and Baptist Medical Center have all filed requests to build another hopsital in Clay County. The latter two had appealed ACHA's 2005 decision granting OPMC the right to build the hospital.
St. Vincent's interpreted the judge's order as giving them the right to built and issued the press release. St. Vincent's could not be reached for comment about the release.

Boy howdy! That joy was short lived, but it did feel good for about thirty seconds. Just long enough to post that joyful response to the blog. And then Lamar let me down. I wish he could have waited until tomorrow to post his update. I would have went to bed tonight with sweet dreams of rejoice just knowing I had a choice when my doc said Ed its time for your dreaded word the big H with the attachment of OPMC. What a bummer Lamar.

Oh well and the big wheel of life keeps on rolling. Sigh!!!! And that really, really, sucks.

Sorry to be a bummer, winn. The ruling doesn't mean that St. Vincent's won't get the right to build the hospital. It just means that the judge's ruling isn't the final word. I'm sure that ACHA will take that into considerationn when rendering a ruling.

In the blog I filed Tuesday afternoon, I said that St. Vincent's was unavailable to comment about press release. However, Erik Kaldor, public relations and media manager for St. Vincent's HealthCare, did return calls to My Clay Sun after I had filed the blog.
"St. Vincent's returns all media inquiries as soon as possible, usually within a couple of hours, but alwasy the same day." Kaldor said Wednesday. "As manager of Media and Public Relations, I returned all media calls and e-mails. Although it took me until 7 p.m. last night, I returned all the media calls and e-mails we received about the Administrative Law Judge's Ruling in St. Vincent's favor.
See today's My Clay Sun for more on the ruling.
