A time for change on the Clay County School BoardThe relationship between leadership and character is very close. A leader without character is not a leader at all. As I’ve sat back and watched the school board here in Clay County, I can’t help but wonder when a leader is going to emerge. Abraham Lincoln said, “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.” As soon as the present board members ascended to office, they forgot why they were put there. They are more consumed with the power they’ve been trusted with than with the needs of their constituency. It is time for change on the Clay County School Board. It is time for parents, teachers and students alike to start having their voices heard. We owe it to ourselves and to the future of Clay County to hold our elected representatives accountable. I met Duane D’Andrea a few years ago. Duane immediately struck me as a down to earth guy who cares. Genuinely. His wife is a teacher and he has a son in the school system. He coaches youth sports, is involved with his church and most importantly, he’s a veteran. Duane is the type of guy who knows where he came from and will never forget it. When I found out that Duane was running for Clay County School Board District 2, I realized we could finally have someone who will stay strong and stay true to the people of Clay County. Duane is a businessman. He has experience bringing people together and approaching obstacles with a common sense approach. But more important than the fact that he is more than qualified to serve us on the School Board, he knows that his purpose will be just that, to serve. Duane D’Andrea is a man of character and a natural leader, and that’s why I am supporting him for Clay County School Board District 2.
