Bradford County Animal Control in Starke, FloridaI am writing as a citizen and resident of the State of Florida. The Bradford County Animal Control is a nightmare and although it has been improved, there is so much that needs to be done still. There was this wonderful write up about the sheriff and all of the work that he has done! What a joke! He has not done a thing to improve the lives of these poor animals and their plights! He is the one who is always pushing to have the animals killed. It is his goal to kill as many as he can before anyone finds out what he is up too! He is not at all animal friendly. He has been around way too long and he thinks that he is not touchable! But, as a public officer and a man who is elected, he needs to know that he is indeed being watched and he needs to do so much more for these poor animals. Citizens of Starke and the surrounding communities need to actually go down there to the shelter and see what the conditions are like. It is pretty primitive to say the least. Nothing is enclosed. The animals are exposed to very cold temperatures, especially like we had with the last cold snap. There is a very high percentage that all of the animals are destroyed simply because they are there and that is the only reason and no other reason. God forbid that he should have to use up some of his budget to pay for dog food and water. Nothing else is done for these animals. None of them are provided medical treatment and the only reason that they were seeing a vet once per week was to be euthanized. Now, Tracey, who works there has the training to kill them herself personally! What a nice person she is too. No one wants to go there when she is around and this information comes directly from the people who have gone there to adopt or rescue. So, please spare me the lies and the junk that was just written in the newspaper.....all one sided propaganda to make him look good and he is NOT!!! He needs to be jerked from office and not ever re-elected! Thank you. Related: debbiemrn's blog | login or register to post comments | printer friendly version | Tags: Bradford County and PAWS

I am debbiemrn and I have learned so much in a little over a year and with many more connections when it comes to Bradford County Animal Control. I want to retract my initial post dated Sunday, 2/25/07. You see, I was simply going on what I believed to be the truth by someone who would not know the truth if it came up and hit her in the head. She was and remains overly dramatic. She also is very manipulative. She had a grudge with the BCAC and still does to this date. I was making my opinion on all of the lies that she told me last year and I want to seriously apologize to all who I may have hurt and/or offended. These people are all innocents of a very vindictive, acidic, and miserable woman who still practices highschool mentality. She handles people with her highschool habits and is simply way too nasty to be helping animals, especially, HUMANS!
She was so convincing in the start, that I thought she had worked at BCAC and was removed once the current Sheriff took over. That was not the case at all. I was incredibly lied to and totally misled. So, I want to officially retract my blog post from last year. I do apologize and hope that I did not hurt anyone as badly as I have been hurt.
I have learned some very valuable lessons over this past year. Trust me when I tell you all this. I have found out that it is not BCAC that has the problems or is the enemy. And with my assistance, it has been BCAC who has found out who was their enemy and they are running oh so much more smoothly and they are getting animals adopted out and rescued out to REAL rescues. The have a new adoption/rescue coordinator at the BCAC and along with the Shelter Manager, life has greatly improved for this rural shelter. I welcome any coments, as that is what blogging is all about.
Thank you to all and lets talk with positive energy and thoughts. Let us try not to tear down a shelter that has been trying so hard. Thank you, Debbie
