Barn-burner Tuesday
MCS Land, Tuesday stands to be a barn-burner day. Ready emergency crews and prepare the hospitals for incoming wounded. The BCC agenda is loaded with hot topics. On the consent agenda, Commissioner Bush is sure to pull the Transportation Committee meeting minutes. He will explain the mitigation of road impacts against a development that doesn't exist. Discussion under Old Business could take hours (depending on the mood of the Commission) because we've got a Veteran's Wall, a strategic transportation plan presentation and a hearing on road impact fees on the agenda. It doesn't get any lighter under New Business. Commissioner Rutledge proposes a discussion on the county's newsletter. He wants to talk about legislative priorities ahead of the legislative delegation meeting and then Jill Slaybaugh will present a legislative update. All's fair in love and war. Bringing up the caboose is the re-organization of the BCC. They decide who's going to be Chairman/Vice Chairman for the '07-'08 season. Sounds like a lot of fun. Will the road impact fee pass? Don't take my word as the final source here, but I think the impact fee hearing has been postponed due to some confusion with notification. I'll bet my years salary impact fee passes 5-0. Re-organization: should Comm. Bush be Chair as a nod to his many years of service? Bet ya it happens. Submitted by Angela on Sun, 11/11/2007 - 10:14pm.
If the impact fees are postponed it seems to me to be some behind the scenes attempting to request adding some things to it at the last minute. It should be passed 5-0, because the county is pass due on implementing those fees. Bush should be the logical choice he is not runnimg for office, this years vice chair, and it is traditional for the board to pass the gavel to the vice chair. The transportation committee meeting will have to be pulled because item one was referred to the full board for a vote, and Bush is the Chairman of that Committee. You know giving land developers perks when they donate the land to Clay County for a school is something I can understand. But getting perks from the county taxpayers for land donate to someone else (the State) is about as greedy as a land owner can get. And if he is working with FDOT for perks from them at the same too, he is consumed with greed.

I wouldn't give any better than even money on the road impact fees. I'm not sure the Vegas odds makers could call this one. I'll keep my thoughts to myself on how I'd like to see it go.
The re-org should be a lot of fun to see.
