Ethics in Government and a Code

I can't imagine how someone would think you can write a "code" or "law and legislate morality and ethics. The decision between right and wrong should be a basic human skill. If we are electing people who don't know right from wrong a code of ethics or any other "Rule" isn't going to effect them We already have many laws dealing with this led by the statute dealing with MALFEASENCE and MISFEASENCE. if theese statues were enforced the results of our recent  cases would have been different. All we need is a State Attorney who will do their job

Completely agree that there just isn't any way to legislate ethical behavior in government or morality in your personal life.  And most people know the difference between right and wrong but most everyone makes a wrong decision at some time in their lives.  For those in public office it is usually about how they handle their "error in judgement" rather than about the "error" in the first place.  Most try to maintain their positions and influence rather than just do the right thing and accept the personal responsibility.  I would rather have someone in office that would just say "I did it and I was wrong" than someone that fights like hell to try and convince us they were right to make that wrong decision.

Ex, You have pretty well nailed it. However, for those who may be ethically challenged, here is a simple set of steps to follow.

1) Watch what a lobbyist does.

2) Don't do that.

3) Sit back and enjoy the praise.
