Enforcing the law is hardly racist
Enforcing the law is hardly racist I am tired of picking up the paper or hearing news reports on TV that brand law-abiding U.S. citizens as racists because we are protesting illegal immigration and demanding that our local, state and federal governments enforce our laws. So putting race aside, let us call illegal immigrants what they really are: economic terrorists. They come here and depress wages for all law-abiding citizens, especially legal immigrants and the lower class. They crowd our schools and emergency rooms, further taxing law-abiding citizens by virtue of the annual increases in property taxes and other taxes we are required to pay to provide these services. They show up en masse at food pantries and public aid offices for subsidies that again take away from the legal residents of this country and those who have been the most severely depressed from the presence of these law breakers. The businesses that hire them are economic terrorists as they take advantage of the low wages and ability to shirk the paying of taxes and other benefits, which are then subsidized by us taxpayers in the form of services and subsidies that our taxes provide. The landlords make millions of dollars per year because they can charge increased rents due to the multiple families sharing one apartment or house, and again, the taxpayers are forced to subsidize heating, electricity and other services. So why are we branded as racists when all we are asking for is a level playing field and that our laws be equally enforced? Why do we get sneered at and protested against and threatened with boycotts when we demand that our representatives take a stance and say no to amnesty, no to continued importation of poverty and no to ever-increasing tax burdens that are not born equally by all? Taxpayers wake up and smell the coffee; the future of your country and your children's futures are at stake here, and we need to rise as an economic force in our own right and demand better treatment and equal enforcement of our laws.

A lawless land If the United States turns a blind eye to the task of enforcing laws, then it will commit financial and cultural suicide. America will cease to exist as a nation. We are not heartless when demanding that immigrants honor U.S. laws and learn English. Americans have both a right and a responsibility to maintain the standard of living that draws millions here looking for a better life. If America becomes a lawless land, it will disappear into the same corruption that illegal immigrants are running from. If they follow the law, then immigrants are welcome. I will receive them with joy and a real desire to see them succeed in the USA.

The following recommended editorial addresses this blog and another posted here a couple days ago (by me). See today's Fla. T/U (10-11-07) editorial by Ruben Navarrette. In my opinion, this idea should be turned into legislation today. Too bad many Americans don't appreciate why so many people from other countries are trying to get here. Many of us take being American for granted. I'm glad I didn't have to cross the Rio Grande to chase my dreams. Viva America.

Bax; I usually don't read Navarette because I can't wrap my arms around his bias for letting illegal immigrants do whatever they want and basically letting our borders open up to all. However, I did read this one at your recommendation. Yep, still don't like his blathering about the rights of an illegal immigrant. If you sneak into the ball game without paying, they don't let you stay just because you promise to go to school. They call the police and throw your butt out. Then they prosecute you for breaking the law. I spent 23 years in San Diego, California. If you haven't been there, you can not imagine how bad it gets out there. If you are a native born American from Arizona living in California, you get to pay non-resident rates for college. If you are illegal and living in Ca you get to pay resident rates because you might become legal some day. If you are a citizen and drive a car, you have to have insurance. If you are illegal, don't worry about it. If you have an accident just tell the police you are illegal they'll turn you loose. The legal has to foot the insurance bill. I could go on for a very long time about how the country is bending over backward not to offend the illegal immigrants, or as the PC call them, undocumented aliens. I got so sick of hearing that crap every day of the week. The reason for this is that there is a large population of Hispanics in that area. These legal immigrants and US citizens are not supporting their own country (the US). They are trying to import most of Mexico back into California. Or Mexico North as it is becoming. Have you ever been to Ellis Island? If not, you should go to see what millions of immigrants had to go through to get here. That was sacrifice and dedication to making a better life for themselves and their families. I couldn't agree with you less, about turning this idea into law. As far as I'm concerned, the only right they have is a one way ticket on the first flight back to where they came from. If they come back again, then let them spend 5 years in the worst prison we can find and then send them home again with a warning that the next trip will cost them 25 years in that same prison. As you can probably tell, I'm one the extremists on the right. Hey, you want to support them, fine, do it with your money not mine. And, do it in their country not mine. Finder

I write to disagree with TU Editorial from Ruben Navarrette about his opinion that the Dream Act is a fair approach to citizenship, (Viewpoint 10/11/07). On the surface, the Dream Act sounded like a wonderful idea. Here are innocent kids who were brought to the United States by their law-breaking illegal parents. Further investigation shows many flaws and loopholes that were built into another massive amnesty attempt. The Dream Act would grant in-state tuition rates and would discriminate against legal citizens who could not get the same benefits. The Dream Act would have repealed a 1996 federal law that prohibits any state from offering in-state tuition rates to illegal aliens unless the state also offers in-state tuition rates to all U.S. citizens. (By the way, California has been in violation of this federal law since 2002). The illegal alien who applies for this amnesty is immediately rewarded with "conditional" lawful permanent resident (green card) status, which can be converted to a non-conditional green card in short order. The alien can then use his newly acquired status to seek green cards for the parents who brought him in illegally in the first place. In this way, it is also a back-door amnesty for the millions of illegal aliens who brought their children with them to the United States. There were many loopholes in the process where the illegal would prove eligibility. There were no numerical or age limits on the Dream Act. The Dream Act also makes the illegal aliens eligible for federal student loans and federal work-study programs - another benefit that law-abiding foreign students cannot receive - all at taxpayer expense. The madness must stop, please; please write your representative and tell them to vote the bill down.

Think we don't have a problem with the leaders of this country when it comes to illegal immigrants? Below are some excerpts from an article written up in a San Diego news source. California has become the first state to approve a law that prohibits landlords from asking tenants' immigration status. The bill was approved this week by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger. Proponents of immigration control view the California law as another attempt to block citizens from defending their interests in an area where the federal government has failed. "It's clear that Washington, D.C., doesn't want to deal with this problem," said Rick Oltman, with Californians for Population Stabilization. "You have cities that want to deal with the problem and this bill would stop them, making them powerless to deal with the illegal alien community." GhostWriter,
I don't know who came up with this kind of non thinking philosophy or exactly when. I liken it to the same jingoistic mentality expressed by the thoughts, "If you're not with us, you're against us." "If you are not in favor of the war, you're not supporting our troops & thus, you're not patriotic." "My country, right or wrong."
Take your pick. They are all in the same vein in that they are meant to spur on those who refuse to take the extra step & employ some critical thinking processes. They are designed specifically to appeal to the masses, or the mob mentality, if you prefer. It's nothing new & I doubt very much if we have seen the end of it. The only thing that's missing is a foggy, moonlit night, showing the ignorant villagers, torches, rakes, axes, clubs & hoes in hand, searching out "the monster," in the castle. Mel Brooks did a much better job. Maybe he can save us from these types of people. Heaven knows, we are not doing our best to police ourselves to root out the mob mentality. JATFUR.
